The one gripe I have is that the Superbowl is typically targeted at entertaining the men. Lots of food and beer! Well, not that I have anything against either of those things, but I thought it would be fun to share a few tips to making sure you are including all the ladies in your game day celebration!
The Drinks!
Okay, let's just jump right in and go straight to the bar. I happen to enjoy a beer personally, but for the most part (and I know I'm not alone) a good portion of ladies rather sip on wine, champagne, and cocktails. When throwing a great game day celebration, let's not forget the wine and champagne at the bar. Adding a little station to include the wine and champagne is a great idea. Depending on the number of wine drinkers you are planning on having at your party, I like to make sure to have enough wine for AT LEAST 2-3 glasses of wine per person. Each bottle holds between 4-5 large glasses, so you can do the math accordingly. Make sure to you have both red and white. If you only have a few guest, it is always easiest to ask before hand on their wine variety of choice. If you're having a larger party, I would make sure you have Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc for the white wine and for the red, you are safe with Pinot Noir, a Zinfandel, and a Red Blend (like a Meritage). These are all great with different types of food or alone (it happens friends). Next, is the champagne. What I love for parties is to pair your few bottles of bubbly with a variety of juices so that your guests can make mimosas. Those juices can also double for those guest enjoying a mixed cocktail as well! My new favorite MUST have at parties are to make sure you have a few Wine Glass Writers next to the wine glasses. These are genius my friends. They are non-toxic pens that your guest can write their names on their glass so they don't get confused!!! G.E.N.I.U.S. Right? For something like a football game party, you can have some added fun adding your team names or drawings to your guest to encourage them to draw and have fun with their glass!
The Food!
Those that know me know that I LOVE FOOD. Fried and cheesier the better right??? Reality is that we don't eat like that. What I find is great for gatherings like this are for two things to happen.
- Make sure there are vegetables. Even if its carrots and celery, make sure there is something to munch on that is not deep fried or melted with cheese. Have a salad with the dressing on the side. Not everyone eats all meat all the time Gentlemen!!! 🙂
- Let your guest know what their eating. If there are salsa's, make sure they know the spicy vs. the mild. If you've got a spread of dips, let them know the difference. Not only is it nice for those counting calories or don't like spice, but with all the allergies these days, its nice for guest to know if there is a Gluten Free Option or that there are specific nuts in the recipe.
Again, how rad are the Wine Glass Writers for this as well? You can write right on the side of the platter or bowl what you're serving. LOVE THESE!!!
And really my friends... with those slight changes, you will not only have HAPPY dudes at your party, but HAPPY LADIES!!!!
