This past weekend was a change from our typical family seeking adventures, as I has the opportunity to attend the Women Get Social Conference down on Mission Bay in San Diego. (More on this later)
To kick off to the weekend, I was invited along with a small group of bloggers (maybe 15) to the Sunset Millennial Summit hosted by Chelsea of Millennial Blogs and Amy of Sunset Vacation Rentals.

It really was a great way to kick off the whole weekend. I had the opportunity to really get to know some of my fellow bloggers and ask the questions I don't typically get to ask in a larger environment. The night was filled with lots of food, wine, and great conversation. The combination of a perfect girls night, in my opinion! P.S. they had me at wine 🙂
The evening went by so fast. All the bloggers mingled and talked about their business and where they have found success, their challenges and where they see their blog headed. AWESOME!
I do have to say that when I walked in and saw these two ladies:Heather and Whitney from Rookie Moms, I kind of went into the celebrity crush mode. You know the silent giddy stare and under my breath giggling like a little school girl! I have been reading them since I had DNH Girl (5+ years ago) and really look up to them as blogging role models. After a few sips of wine, I went over to talk to them and can I just tell you, I'm so happy I did. They listened as I explained my journey of blogging and they gave me insight and advice that was so valuable. There is something so great about someone or someones (is that a word) that have been through it and are still doing it and challenging themselves to take it even further. P.S. I heart their book "The Rookie Mom's Handbook" and definitely recommend it! As you can imagine I was over the moon l to have met them in such an awesome setting.
Of course the entire night was just as fabulous! I mingled and talked with most of the other bloggers that are also blogging for business. We all talked about everything from cameras to babies.
Towards the later part of the evening we started a sort of round table. This is where we sat around and ask questions, primarily to Chelsea, who not only started Millennial Blogs but blogs on her personal blog Someday I'll Learn. We asked her questions and picked her brain on different business topics. She is another seasoned blogger that has had success and has worked with some great brands.
Not knowing really what to expect from the evening, I was happy to have had the opportunity to not only ask questions, but contribute to the conversation as to what has worked for me and share some of my insight from the brand side. Truly all I could have asked for in one night.
Did I mention that the night was hosted at a beautiful beach rental in Ocean Beach?
It was just a few blocks from the beach and available for rent if you're looking for a great family friendly beach rental. Check them out here!
A special thanks to the hosts of the summit:
- Whole Foods: Food and “swag bags” were courtesy of Whole Foods La Jolla
- Sunset Vacation Rental: A classy, spacious home in Ocean Beach that will help you create memories to last a lifetime.
- Millennial Blogs: Connecting brands with millennial influencers, the blog networkspecializes in shareable content and beautiful imagery.
All in all, it was great night and I'm so thankful for being included and can't wait for our next event!
