My first IPSY bag of the year! I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for me in the beauty world! This month, the theme of the bag was eyes. The cute pouch was my first hint and then my next clue was the card that came with it stating “All eyes on you.” Dead giveaway. I can’t make up my mind about liking the idea of monthly themes or not yet. On the one hand, I like it because it focuses on one area, but then again I like variety. Eyes are my favorite area to make up, so I was excited about this month. I received an eyebrow product, two eye products, a brush, and lotion.
Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil – $17 As I’ve mentioned before, I tend to stick to eyeshadow and a liner brush when it comes to lining my eyes. It’s safer, easier for me, and more forgiving. Plus, if you’re like me (eyeshadow hoarder) then you have so many shades to choose from. However, I gave this product a try and I actually really liked it! The shade I got was called “Jac” which is a medium brown color. I applied a very light cream shade all over the lid and then just a very light tan crease color as my eyeshadows. I lined my eyes with this crayon-pencil and it looked great! It definitely helped complete the soft look that I was going for. And it applied REALLY easily! Love it!
Ofra Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil – $13 Okay, so here’s where the truth comes out. I have not jumped on the eyebrow game yet. Let me explain. I have the wonderful half-Mexican genes from my mother that grace me with lots of hair. Everywhere. Therefore, I was blessed with a thick unibrow from a young age. Thanks, Mom 🙂 Anyway, I’ve always despised my eyebrows because they are so high maintenance and need to be plucked every 5 hours. I’m being dramatic but you get the point. So, I’ve never seen it necessary to make my eyebrows EVEN DARKER, like the latest trend suggests I do. I already have pretty full brows and don’t feel the need to enhance them. I have tried a few brow products in the past and I did find one that I liked but of course I lost it and can’t remember the brand. Anyway, this product is pointless for me but it is in pencil form so I could probably try it as an eyeliner.
Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eyeshadow – $13 First of let me just say that I got THE best shade of this collection. I received the shade “Mink” which is a really pretty brownish pinkish gold with shimmer (just look at it!) I LOVE this color. The only downside is that it isn’t as pigmented as I would like it to be. I applied it on one eye with a wet brush and the other eye with a dry brush and I was disappointed when I saw no different. I discovered that the best way to apply it is simply with your finger. I swirled my finger around in the pigment and the color looked SO GOOD on my finger. Once I applied it to my lid, it still looked good but not as good as it did when I swatched it. It was a little bit more opaque then the brush application method, though. I love this color but is it really worth $13 for one shade? Maybe. Maybe not. I think it’d be great for a neutral, every day look with a touch of shimmer.
Beau Gachis Paris Smudge Brush – $12 Okay so I was really excited when I saw this brush because I automatically thought “CREASE!” This brush is called a smudge brush and I’m not really sure why because the brushes I use to smudge shadows under my eye don’t really look like this but whatever. I guess it could work. However, I stuck with my instinct and dipped it into a basic tan crease color. It applied the color really nicely and the brush was surprisingly soft on my lid. Softness is really important for a crease brush because you’re usually blending that color over and over and over and it can be uncomfortable if your brush is too stiff. I’m thankful this brush came into my life, because I can definitely see myself using this for every makeup look that I create.
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion – full size $8.49 Um, it’s lotion. Not much else to say about it. I do appreciate the fragrance free, though. It says it moisturizes for 24 hours but I’m suuuuuper dry so I feel like my skin just soaked it right up, and it was ready for more by the end of the day.
That’s all for now, folks! Hope you enjoyed!
