SPRING IS ALMOST HERE! I cannot freaking wait for warm weather (I live in the Chicagoland area). This month, the theme of Ipsy was spring. The Ipsy card says, “We’re having a spring fling with flawless! Celebrate the season with a spotlight on radiant, selfie-ready skin, flushed cheeks and a fresh kick of color on eyes or lips.” I am SO happy with my glam bag this month. The most exciting item is the first one I’ll mention down below because I have been wanting a Makeup For Ever Step 1 Primer FOR. EVER. No pun intended. But I’ve heard so much about them so I was really excited to see one in my bag. And, I got another brush! YAY!! They could send me a new brush every month and I’d never get bored, honestly. I also got a full size eyeliner, as well as a lip product and a face mask. Keep reading to learn about my items!!
Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer from Makeup For Ever. Soooo, I was REALLY excited for this primer. Like REALLY REALLY EXCITED. Although, I was hoping it’d be one of the smoothing and poreless ones. Anyway, this little tiny sample that I got was only enough for about three uses. BLAH. Not really enough times to give a 100% review but I’m still going to try! It was pretty hydrating which it does claim to be so there’s that. I actually liked this product more than I thought I would. It did seem to make my foundation last all day and even though it’s not a smoothing one, I feel that it did smooth out my pores. I have some texture on my cheeks next to my nose area and I feel that this primer smoothed it out somewhat. The full size is $37!! That’s craziness. I probably won’t be purchasing this product but I would really like to try a couple of the other step 1 primers from Makeup For Ever.
The next thing I received was the Nudestix Lip + Cheek Pencil in the color Mystic. LOVE this stuff. The word “pencil” led me to believe that this product would be matte, which I would have been happier with but it does have a shine to it. It’s still great, though! I have never found a lip and cheek product like I actually like on both my lips and my cheeks until this one. I swatched it below…
First, I applied it to my lips and it is the perfect mauve-y pink nude. Again, I wish it was matte but it’s the perfect color for wearing every day. It’s screaming “business casual” to me and I love it. Plus the semi glossiness means you can wear it pretty much for any occasion. I tried it on my cheeks by drawing on about 6-8 dots/marks on my cheeks and then blending with my finger. It worked out great! The color is really nice and I think it would be great for fall and winter on the cheeks. Full size is $24.
Insanely Intense Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner from Skone Cosmetics. A full size product, yay!! ($15)
As you know if you’ve read some of my other Ipsy posts, I don’t tend to use eyeliner to line my eyes. I like using eyeshadows and an angled brush. However, I have been trying out some new eyeliners just because I’m a makeup hoarder and I felt like I needed to buy some new products. This product has a felt tip which I actually do really like when it comes to eyeliners, even though they do tend to dry out pretty quickly. I used this one to line my upper lashline and it worked great! It was very matte and suuuper black. I was happy with it, but for me it wasn’t like “insanely” good.
Global Beauty Care’s Dead Sea Wash-Off Mask. First of all, this product was so hard to find. I ended up resorting to Amazon and found it for around $13. Okay, so right off the bat this mask reminded me so much of my Origins Charcoal Mask. The color was EXACTLY the same and it felt the same rubbing it in my hand. However, once I started applying this I learned that it was THICK. Super thick. A little bit definitely went a long way. While the package said to wash it off in 10-15 minutes, I found that it didn’t completely dry until about 20-25 minutes. It was kind of messy to wash off (since it’s so thick and so dark) but it was totally worth it. Once my wash was completely dry, even before I put any other product on my face, I let my skin set for a little bit. After about 5 minutes, I touched my face and HOLYCOW. I honestly did not expect to feel a difference after one use. But wow. My face felt sooo freaking soft. And it didn’t feel like I just moisturized, it felt like actual smooth and soft skin. Good job, Dead Sea!!
The last thing that I got was an Eye Shadow Brush from Beau Gachis. First of all, THANK YOU IPSY for consistently sending me makeup brushes. I NEED THEM. Don’t stop, please 🙂 Okay, so moving on… I’ve received another brush from this same company before and I looove them both! This one is a flat shader brush and the one I received previously is a fluffy crease brush. Just like that one, this new one is super soft and easy to use. It isn’t harsh on my eyes and it’s just the right size for packing on color. Retail price is $12.
