As I sit here, wine glass in hand I think about this week and laugh.
I’m sure you are all sitting on the edge of you seat in curiosity as to how my first week as a PTSAHM (part-time stay at home mom) went.
All in all it went well. We were late to speech both mornings, still need to get my timing on getting out of the house and to school with both kids. Getting out and running is are now pushing a stroller which also threw off my distance and timing. But we did accomplish a doctors appointment, grocery shopping, locking our key in the car at the park and a kick butt gingerbread village!
I find myself laughing because of one particular part of my week. I know I say this often, but seriously only these things happen to me.
The three musketeers ventured out to walmart to pick up a few things. Two kids —- one shopping cart! (That is why I love Target and their two kid seated carts)! In any case, the baby gets to sit in the seat section and DNH girl sits in the big part of the cart. We venture through the store pretty quickly filling the cart up with goodies, which all sort of end up on top of DNH Girl (poor girl). In any case, we check out and head to the car.
I had parked next to a cement median on the driver side, so when I rolled the cart up I wedged it between the car and the median so it wouldn’t roll while I unloaded. We unload the goodies and then I tell Sydney that I’m going to put brother in the car first then I will come and get her. I lift brother out and into his car seat. I have the top of the 5 point harness connected when I hear “tehehe” I glance out the back of the car which is still open and see Sydney, who had somehow come “un-wedged” from the median and is now in a rouge cart headed down the center of the parking lot headed straight for a car.
In complete and utter panic I start a full sprint to catch her. Who knew there was enough of an incline to get her going this fast. She of course is holding on and giggling, thinking this is so much fun. I am in a full spinting and catch her less than a foot from hitting a parked car.
She turns to me an smiles and really had no idea anything bad was about to happen. I grab her little body, hug her so freaking tight and then proceed to get her into the car. I go back to brother who was Thank God strapped in enough to not fall out, and then pack the back of the car and go on our way.
Can you all tell me something… how do you load your little into the car from a cart? I would love to know how everyone else does it because apparently the way I’m doing it AINT WORKING!
Alright, that was my first week…
