We are now well into fall and almost to winter! Can you even believe it? I am so not looking forward to the “S word.” (I’m from the Chicagoland area). This month I wasn’t too impressed with my glam bag this month but I did receive one of my favorite primers of all time that I had just run out of!
BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes To Go – $7? So to explain the question mark, I couldn’t find this exact palette on the BH Cosmetics website and the only thing even remotely similar was this palette called “Foil Eyes 28 Color Eyeshadow Palette.” $7 for 28 shadows is pretty insane (in a good way) however if the shadows in this palette are of the same quality as the ones I received, then it isn’t even worth the seven bucks. When you first swipe your finger in these shadows, the pigmentation looks stunning. Now I wouldn’t say that these shadows are foiled in any way. They’re glittery, yes, but not quite foiled. My problem with these was that once you apply the colors to the lid or even the back of your hand for a swatch, the pigment completely disappears. They blend out to nothing. Every color is the same. I do love the selection of shades and I really wish these worked out but unfortunately, this palette was a dud.
Benefit POREfessional Face Primer – Full size $31 As mentioned above, this is the primer that I was so happy to have received this month because I just recently ran out! I have problematic aka HUGE pores on my cheeks near my nose area and some foundations like to just sink right into them! This primer does a great job of filling in my pores and giving me a smooth surface for foundation. It is pretty pricey, so maybe get a free sample from Sephora first or go with the mini size to start!
Ciate Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick – Full size $19 I was really intrigued by the name “liquid velvet” but I just wish I got a different shade! Red lipsticks do not look good on me, in my opinion and I received the shade “Diva” which is described on the website as “a true red.” I’m going to give this one away but as far as formula and staying power, it did pack a punch! (I tested it on the back of my hand and it stayed on pretty well). I can’t really say how well it wears on the lips because I only tried it on once and immediately wiped it off but the formula did feel comfortable for the time being. This shade would look amazing on others, though!
Ofra Cosmetics Banana Powder – $12
I was so excited to receive this powder and use it to set my under eye concealer! Powders that are in a “banana”-like shade are usually really good for setting concealer and brightening up the area under your eyes. I used to use one frequently that’s in the Kat VonD Shade + Light contour palette and I love it!
I know of a few different companies who have something similar so I thought that I would like this one just as much! I was wrong. The powder is indeed brightening and it’s the perfect shade, however, it did not prevent creasing under my eyes, which is what its main purpose is. It made me look wrinkly and old and it didn’t help to set my concealer at all. Sorry, Ofra!
Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum – Full size $41 The first thing that surprised me about this product is that it’s YELLOW. Like actually, yellow. I did not expect that. However, the actually product itself does really work for me. I like to apply it right before primers and makeup to add a little extra moisture and life to my skin. I have heard that it works as a primer, too, but I haven’t tried it without a primer so I can’t speak on that claim. It is very refreshing and soothing. I don’t know if it’s doing anything for my skin but I do enjoy the soft, healthy glow that it gives my skin before makeup!
