learning to draw an easy unicorn
  • Before we start drawing, you must position your piece of paper. We recommend positioning your paper horizontal. That means that the long side of your paper is at the bottom. This will allow you to create an easy unicorn drawing using as much of the paper.
    Paper Position
  • Start by drawing the basic shapes of the unicorn head. We are drawing a side view of the unicorn head. Start with a line down and start to create a U shape for the mouth and then a small curve for the jaw of the unicorn heading back up. Stop slightly short of where you started.
Drawing a unicorn first step which is drawing a unicorn head
  • The next step is to draw the chest of the unicorn. Starting at the jaw draw a curved line down.
second step to drawing a unicorn
  • Next is to draw the front leg. Draw a straight line out from the middle of the chest and then curve it down. Square off the bottom of the hoof. Then draw the other front leg and draw a vertical line down from the bottom of the chest line you drew in the previous step. Draw a small line out from the leg to create the belly.

  • The next step is the back leg. Start with a line down from the back end of the unicorn. Draw the legs with a wider thigh and then similar to a horse, the legs have a curved on the back part of the knee which is called a hock. Then create another hind leg in a similar shape coming from the bottom of the belly.
the fourth step of drawing a unicorn is the hind legs
  • The next step is the unicorn's mane and unicorn ear. Create a line starting from the top of the unicorn face. Draw a curved line up from the top of the head to create an ear. Then draw a simple line down the back of the head to the back of the unicorn. An easy way to add the flowing mane is to draw it in sections with curved. This will allow you to color in different colors of your unicorn's hair later. Continue the sections till you reach the line from the back. Don't forget a small piece of hair in the front of the ear.
the fifth step is to draw the unicorns mane and ear
  • The next step is to draw the unicorn's horn in a simple triangle shape off the front of the unicorn's head. Then draw the unicorn tail. Similar to its mane, you will want to draw it in sections to give it a fun tail.
the next step is to draw the unicorn horn
  • Next is to add features including the face, the lines on the unicorn's horn, and the hooves (lines on the feet). For the mouth a simple curved line at the mouth with a small smile. The eye is a small circle with a smaller circle inside.
the seventh step is to drawn the unicorn mouth and eye
  • The last step is to erase all the extra lines you have for the unicorn drawing. You can trace over the lines with a dark pencil line or marker. Once you are satisfied with your simple lines, you are done with the unicorn drawing.
the last step is go over the main lines of your unicorn drawing with a dark pencil
  • Now its time to color and make your own unicorn drawing project shine. I love a beautiful mane full of color and the iconic long horn a fun color.
