I'm always looking for family fun ways to engage the kids and get them outside. One thing we found that was great and pretty inexpensive was picking strawberries!

In Southern California there are a number of different farms where you can take the kids and load up a bucket of strawberries. Yummm... can't wait to eat them!!

We stayed really local and hit up the U-Pick farm in Carlsbad. Its a bit more expensive than you would purchase in the grocery store, but they had two bucket sizes (medium and large) for $10 or $20 and you take and pick away! The kids had a lot of fun. And I'm not saying it happened, but I've heard that the first strawberry picked gets eaten before you leave the fields! Here are some pics from our adventure.
