Hello friends and HAPPY Day! Today is indeed a HAPPY HAPPY day because it is MWH Dad's Birthday! Hooray. While we plan on spending the day doing all things that he loves, I wanted to share with you some of my tips on how to make a really HAPPY cake. Yep, I'm sharing my secrets to making a seriously HAPPY cake. Of course, these are all totally my opinion and you can disagree all you want.

    1. First things first... keep it simple and stick with the basics. If you are a seriously fabulous baker and know how to do complicated, go for it, but if you are anything like me and just want something that puts a smile on the party goers face, then stick with the basics. Ask the birthday girl or boy their favor flavor and go with that. made-with-HAPPY-cake
    2. Stick to a recipe that is tried and true. I have a few go-to recipes that I love to pull up on my ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi and have open while I'm mixing and combining. Okay, this is totally my opinion, but if you have a chocolate cake recipe that you've made 12 times and every time it is a total hit, then go with that one. No need to cause added stress by trying to brand new recipe that has a ton of different steps and you're trying to make it awesome for someone's birthday. Stress does not equal HAPPY  sprinkleshappy-kids-decorating-cake
    3. Make decorating a cake fun. I'm not going to lie, I'm a terrible cake decorator and I know this about myself and so I keep it as simple and fun as possible. If you have some skills. Go on with your bad self and decorate that cake as fun and HAPPY as you possibly can. If you're like me and have no skills, don't stress! SPRINKLES ARE HAPPY. Invite some cute kids over and have them add a gazillion sprinkles to the top.happy-cake
    4. Lastly, have I said it enough, don't stress. Stress takes the fun out of any situation, especially one that is about celebrating and HAPPY. If its causing you too much trouble or stress, go buy one. Birthday celebrations are HAPPY and are so not worth stressing out about. Add some candles, smile  and get to singing that HAPPY tune.MWH-cakeHappy Baking friends!
