Hello! This is Amanda from AJ Cooper Interior Design and I am excited to be back on DNH today kicking off the new year with a post on DNH's Color of the Month and Pantone's color of the year...EMERALD GREEN.Via Pantone
Pantone describes this year's selection as "Lively. Radiant. Lush...A color of elegance and beauty that enhances or sense of well-being, balance and harmony."I have always been fascinated by color trends and forecasting. It's amazing to me how much of our world is influenced by the colors that surround us in everything from fashion to interiors to everyday packaging. Each year Pantone selects a color of the year and each year it is influenced by a number of factors. Elements such as the economy and general social outlook play major roles in the selection of the color.
At times emerald green can tend to feel too formal and stuffy for me but I will say that it absolutely evokes a sense of glam, stability and has great depth. As far as emerald green and interiors go, I like to see it in an all-or-nothing kind of context. You've got to own it. It's got to be a punchy accent or an all consuming element, don't tread in the middle with this one!

Dramatic emerald drapes make this space glamorous and formal and are a luxurious focal point.
Still one of my favorite spaces, Viceroy Santa Monica. Here emerald green is a bold pop of color against the black and white backdrop.
Casual accents in this strong color steal the show. The black side table and lamp help to ground the rest of the space.
How will you use Emerald Green this year? or will you?
