So I finally gave in and decided to give FabFitFun a try! I love my IPSY subscription but I wanted to venture out and try something new! I've heard great things and read awesome reviews on this box so I finally took the plunge! This box is sent out 4 times a year--one box for each season. The array of items that you get can include things like: makeup, skin care, hair accessories, jewelry, and other lifestyle pieces.
My first box is the box that they send every new subscriber. I received 9 full size items that total $283.98! That's insane, since I only paid $40 for the box! One thing that I really like about this box was that it comes with a card telling you what each item is and its price.
The first item I pulled out was this gorgeous gold-colored pendant necklace that says "dream."
This delicate piece will look great with anything and I can't wait to wear it! This necklace is SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS!
The next thing (and probably the most exciting) was this comfy blanket scarf from Modcloth!
This is the first blanket scarf I own and I can already say that I love it! It's super soft but also very cute and wearable for the season! Its retail price is $34.99. The only downside is that if you're wearing black, it's very noticeable how many white fuzzies end up all over your clothing! But it's still super cute and comfy.
Next, I pulled out this Mineral Face Peel from O.R.G. Skincare.
The description on the card says "This all-natural enzyme exfoliant with brightening agents extracts dermal debris and dead skin in seconds." It's in a spray bottle and it said that you just spray it on and then massage it off.
Once I tried this product, I realized that I had something very similar from my local waxing spa for about half the price. The only difference that I've noticed so far is that this one is a spray, where my other one is a pump. The texture and color is very similar--kind of milky. Basically you spray this on your face, which I find kind of annoying since I don't want it to get in my eyes, and then you begin to massage it in with your fingers. As you do this, you can literally feel the dead skin balling up and "peeling" off. I do think it is a great product but is it worth $44? Not sure about that.
Next, I reached in and grabbed this beautiful nail polish from a brand called Zoya.
This polish is 5-free--meaning that it doesn't include 5 specific harmful elements that I won't bother mentioning because they're too long and complicated to read anyway--vegan-friendly, and safe for use during pregnancy.
First off, this polish isn't very thick and pigmented, probably because of the shade. I used three coats, as I do with all polishes this light, and used my usual Milani top coat. The color on my skin tone is STUNNING. It's the perfect mauvy pinky nude color. I was very impressed with the wear of this polish. It honeslty lasted longer than any polish I've ever tried before. And I'm obsessed with the color, so I'm sure this will be my go to for the next month or so. This retails for $10 a bottle and they have 435 shades!!
The next two items that I pulled out were the Argan & Hemp Hair Oil from Marrakesh and the Liplocked Priming Gloss Stain from Manna Kadar
The hair oil claims to leave your hair feeling "silky smooth with a healthy frizz-free, glossy shine." The first thing that I appreciated about this product is that it came in a glass bottle! That's not something you see everyday, especially with a product that isn't crazy expensive (it's $22.99). The bottle says that you can apply it to wet or dry hair so I tried it right away on my dry, freshly washed hair. I used my fingers to run it through my hair, trying not to get too close to my roots, since I didn't want those to get oily. Right off the bat this product has an amazing scent! As you can see from the packaging, it is an original scent but I wish I could buy this as a perfume! I'd wear it everyday!
I've used many different oils on my hair and this one knocks all the others out of the park! It actually made a noticeable difference in the texture of my hair! I have dry and frizzy hair, from coloring, straightening, and curling but this oil actually impressed me! I would definitely recommend this because you're getting great quality for a decent price!
The lip product claims to be 3-in-1: primer, lip gloss, and lip stain. I do like the fact that it moisturizes your lips while applying color but there are many products out there that do the same thing and they're a lot cheaper. This product is $24. I do have to admit, though, that it is very pigmented for just being a gloss. You have to be a bit more careful applying this than you would a regular gloss. The longer I wore it, the more I actually ended up liking it! The color is great, too!
The next thing that I pulled out was this adorable travel mug from The Created Co.
It's very light weight but seems very sturdy and the lid is a twist-off. This retails for $19 and is super cute!!
Next I found this coloring book and colored pencils from FabFitFun themselves!
I was so excited when I saw this because honestly I've never really got into the whole adult coloring trend, but the pictures in this are just so cute! According to the card description, "Research shows that coloring is therapeutic, and can reduce stress and anxiety." This is $14.
Lastly, I received this eyeshadow palette from Pure Cosmetics called "Nude Collection."
This pretty much looks exactly like an exact replica of one of Urban Decay's Naked palettes but hey, it could be a coincidence (but probably not). INCLUDE UPDATE I really love that it has a full mirror and a brush that actually doesn't suck. This retails for $50!
Unfortunately, the brush was the best thing about this palette. I had really high hopes, especially because the color selection seemed like my go-to shades and since it's $50. The only matte shades when you glance at the palette are the first one (off-white), the 5th one (cool toned transition shade) and the last one (black). I first went for the off-white, cream shade to set my eye lids. It turned out not to be matte after all. It had tons of shimmer, which was a huge turn off for me. The transition shade wasn't bad but none of the colors blended out very well and all of them were patchy. I do really like the brush, though, so I'll continue using that!
That wraps up my first box from Fab Fit Fun! I hope you enjoyed and hopefully I helped you decide whether or not to join the club! I do think the products that you get are worth the $40 or $50 that you pay since everything inside has such great value. (I say $40 or $50 because there are codes everywhere for $10 off, just google it). I plan to continue my subscription because overall, I was very pleased with my first box. I want to try at least one from each season before deciding whether or not to stick with it. I can't wait for my next one!
