The exciting news is that we’re heading on vacation real soon, like tomorrow. The not-so-fun news... we're headed on vacation tomorrow and we still haven't packed! Ahhhhhh.
It’s no secret that I love to travel and am always up for hopping on a plane at an hour's notice. When it comes to packing for the entire family, that's when things start to get tricky.
Packing for Kids
When your kids get to be a certain age, the once-packing five thousand onesies and a package of diapers are long gone.
These little loves have opinions on what they wear, what books their read, and how they are going to spend their time. And if they are anything like my HAPPY knuckleheads they like to take all the clothes out of the bag you just packed to see if they can fit inside like a magician. 🙂
While I would love to allow each person in my family to pack their own suitcase, my kids are still too young.
What I have found works great at giving them some responsibility and opinions are picking out their favorite outfit or outfits and bringing them to me and letting me pack everything into the suitcase.
How to Pack the Carry On
Then when it comes to carry-ons, I let them pick out a few small toys they love to play with on the plane. I then add in electronics and snacks. Let's just say, Mom is a little more responsible at charging the electronics before we leave and making sure we all have the proper accessories.
And don't forget snacks!!!! Goldfish crackers are perfect for travel. The kids (and I) adore the taste, they are super duper easy to pack, and did I mention they are delicious?
Giving Kids Responsibility
The reality is that we find that it is good for kids to have some responsibility for what they bring on a trip. Lessens their anxiety with parting with things they love and gives them pride that they were able to help pack for themselves.
Do you let your kids help pack for trips?
