In my journey of living a clean life, I’ve come across so many DIY and all natural ways to do things; including face wash, body care, and cleaning supplies. I thought it would be fun if I were to try out a bunch and report back here to you lovely people and let you know what I really thought of it, and if they were really anything that I would recommend trying. For this first round, I am sharing with you my secret for a natural eye makeup remover.
I wear really good makeup that stays on all day, especially the eye makeup. Time for confession- I’ve gone to bed several times without washing my face. I know, that’s disgusting!! When I woke up I didn’t have the crazy raccoon eyes either. My eyes still looked pretty legit. But don’t worry, I never went out in public like that, I know to draw the line somewhere. I’ve tried so many different types of eye makeup removers. Some hardly work, some are super expensive, and others seem to work well and be at a decent price point, but have you ever looked at the ingredients? Kind of scary. Two words- Coconut Oil!!

Coconut Oil is so amazing. I keep learning different uses for it and am both reading about and experiencing so many of its great benefits. There are lots of different variations and brands, but the one that I am most fond of is Dr. Bronners.
I’m not really a big fan of “selfies”, but thought I’d take one for the team to better show you how it works. I felt very much like Wayne’s World and I was doing an Extreme Close Up of myself. Whooaaaa!!
There’s really nothing to it. I just put the smallest amount on my finger tips and gently massage my eyes. It’s seriously amazing how well it works. This next picture is not meant to scare you (but what a great idea for Halloween makeup huh!!) but to show just how powerful and gentle the coconut oil is. I can even open my eyes and not feel any burning. I am yet to come across any other remover that does that.
I usually am rubbing for about 30 seconds. The smell itself is so relaxing. I actually look forward to taking my makeup off at the end of the day. When I’m done, I just use a washcloth and warm water and wipe away the oil. It really is as simple as that. My eyes are now not only cleaned, but also moisturized (bonus round!!). The price point is also pretty amazing. The jar I get is usually about $8. And if you were to only use it for eye makeup removal it would last for such a long time. My conclusion- I would most definitely recommend using coconut oil as a natural eye makeup remover.
