I don't know about you, but for our house, Summer is all about getting out of the house and enjoying the sun and the weather. You can often find us headed to the beach, dunking in the pool or headed off on our latest adventure exploring the city.

Last week was no different in that we woke up on Saturday morning and found ourselves headed down to Coronado Island. Coronado happens to be one of my favorite places in all San Diego. It has all the small town charm and is just a hop skip and a jump from the big city.
Of course the Island is known for the Famous Hotel Del, but with so many other fun parts to explore and see that we didn't make it to the Del this visit. The main drive (Orange) is lined with fabulous shops and restaurants and you could spend the day walking, shopping, and eating, if you so desired. We had the littles with us so we grabbed a quick bite and then set off to one of the prettiest parks. The kids absolutely adored the park and we loved the large green grassy area where we could sit and watch the kids and would be great for a picnic had we gone that route. It even had hop scotch... LOVE THAT!
Then it was off to the North Side of the island. There is a fabulous ferry (the one the hubs took me on it for my birthday a few years back) that travels to and from Downtown San Diego to Coronado. The landing is located on the North Side of the Island along with a ton of shops and restaurants as well.
Once we found parking (not so easy)we decided we'd explore the water front with this fun bike. It really was so much fun having us all together. We laughed and giggled the entire ride. From this side of the island you get the most spectacular views of the San Diego skyline. I could sit and look at this all day. P.S. I'm in love with this picture. I not only love the skyline, but the the pop of aqua in the umbrella... Ahh, they don't call it America's Finest City for nothing.
I LOVED having my Mom with us. Having not lived in San Diego for over 20 years she told us stories of her growing up and how before the bridge was built the ferry would take you over in your car. Fun memories!Plus its just fun to get out let the kids explore.
We saw boats and bridges and docks and ships. So many beautiful things. It truly is one of the best places to visit in San Diego. Happy Exploring and Happy Summer.
