Was Detective Pikachu Movie appropriate for young children?
The Pikachu Movie was rated PG and actually pretty funny from a parent’s point of view. Would I recommend it for young children? Probably not too young. There is a section of the movie that the six and seven year olds were a bit scared and looking through the cracks of their fingers as they covered their eyes. I asked them at that part if they wanted to leave the movie or go into the lobby of the theatre and they all declined and by that point the “scary” part was over. I would say its more intense than scary, but would definitely recommend you watching it first if you are concerned.
Do you have to be a Pokemon fan to enjoy the movie?
Are your kids (or yourself) Pokemon fans? Both my daughter and my son are Pokemon card traders. Is that what they call that? They each have a big book of Pokemon cards and know which ones do what things. That knowledge comes in handy when watching the movie. The hubs and I are not as well versed in the world of Pokemon, but don’t fret, while you we didn’t know exactly what each did, they did a good job and clarify each character’s skill.
Pikachu Movie Activity Sheets
If your children are anything like mine, then when a new movie comes out and there are any kind of activity sheets or coloring pages associated with the movie, then they are all in. The minute I saw these, I had both kids looking over my shoulder asking when I was going to print them out so they could work on them.
From the Mom stand point, I love activity sheets in general. It get the kids minds working through puzzles, maazes, and other brain flexing activities. Not to mention they are SCREEN FREE. Boom, MOM WIN!
The kids like them because it reminds them of the characters of the movie and feel like they are watching the movie again and again. Did you know there is science behind why kids love to watch the same movie over and over? I read that kids learn better with repetition. Kids don’t necessarily follow all the things that go on in a movie the first time, and so when they watch it over and over, they are able to watch and follow different areas of the movie that they weren’t necessarily able to comprehend the last time. Fun fact huh?
