With Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to create a fun festive upcycle piece that is all kinds of HAPPY without breaking the bank.
We have teamed up with the Goodwill to bring you this fun little framed piece that not only looks amazing in your house over the holidays, but ultimately is helping people within your communities with jobs and services. For those that don’t know, Goodwill provides job preparation, skill training, education assistance and support services to million of people each year who are facing challenges to finding employment. Did you know that ever 23 seconds, someone is getting a job through the help of the Goodwill? That is AMAZING you guys!
I am a firm believer in reduce, reuse, repurpose movement that Goodwill has been a huge influence in creating. I found so many presents at the Goodwill you guys! FOR REAL. Plus I may have found some amazing hot pink planters and a fabulous jacket for myself 🙂
For this project, I wanted to show you that you can create a customized DIY Holiday Decor piece that goes with all the colors that you are decorating with at your house. I found this picture frame at my local Goodwill. After speaking with the gentleman working there, and explaining that I was really just looking for the frame, he gave it to me for $4! SCORE! I simply spray painted the frame with a white semi-gloss paint.I bought a container of these plastic holiday light ornaments at my local craft supply store. I placed two colors in each of the ornaments and then with a cotton swab swirled the paint around the ornament creating a marbling effect.
Then using a simple white thread, I tied one end to the ornament and then cut each the pieces long enough to have the ornaments hang within the frame. Then with a simple tack, I pinned to the back of the frame and wrapped the string around it.You have yourself a simple DIY Holiday Decor full of color and HAPPY.
