It could be crafts, gardening, home DIY projects, food, cocktails, or anything else that is Made with HAPPY! This week, we shared a fun tutorial.
What is a Fairy Garden?
A fairy garden is a miniature garden made with small plants and flowers and miniature structures. These DIY Fairy gardens can contain tiny houses and all kinds of magical items for a fairy to live.
To make a great dollar tree fairy garden, one trip to the craft store, garden center, and or dollar tree, and you will be set. You can find some dollar store fairy garden ideas finding whimsical figurines and lots of dollar tree items in the gardening section.
The fun thing is that the dollar tree is a great place to put your own spin on your garden scene. If you are looking for river rocks, or popsicle sticks to make into welcome signs, there are so many fun craft supplies to make your enchanted garden come to life.
What You Need For Dollar Tree Fairy Garden
I've decided to also add a walk-through version here as well in case you missed anything on the video. Here is how you make it:
Fairy Garden Supplies:
- Buckets, clay pots, bowls, flower pots, terra cotta pots, or wide-mouth pots - Like this one
- Soil
- Flowers
- Small Plants
- Rocks or floral marbles
- Fairy House
- Floral decorations (birds, butterflies, mushrooms, etc.)
- Fairy
How to Make a Fairy Garden
Start by making sure there are holes in the bottom of your bowl. If there are no holes, then use a drill and drill two small holes.
Next, fill the bucket with soil. Leave some room on the top for the garden decorations. You never want to fill to the very top so that your water doesn't overflow from the top.
Plant the flowers around the bucket. I love the idea of a slightly larger one in the back and then flowers around the that, but really it is however the kids want to make it.
Next have the kids place all their decorations around the bucket.
The last step is to add rocks or marbles around the flowers and decorations.
