Grinch-Mas Paper Chain Countdown

Part of the holiday fun is counting the days until Christmas. My kids love to do it and honestly, I do too! Since the live-action Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas is my favorite holiday movie, I created this activity in that theme. Instead of counting down the days left until Christmas, I wanted to count down the days until Grinch-Mas!

If you're familiar with The Grinch, then you know he starts off with a tiny heart and it grows by the end of the movie. With this paper chain, kids can help The Grinch's heart grow a little each day until the big day. It's an easy, fun, and interactive activity!

Grinch Christmas Countdown Paper Chain Activity

Setting up this paper chain Christmas countdown is quick and low-prep. All you have to do is print the free download below, cut out the pieces, tape them together and hang it up! When it's put together, the paper chain is about 45"-48" long.

When you print the PDF, cut out the 4 rows on the second page and carefully glue them together in order. Each heart square has a number so you want to make sure to put 1 at the top and 24 at the bottom.

Start the countdown on December 1st and each day your child can rip off (or cut with scissors) one heart square. The hearts get bigger every day until the 24th because The Grinch is ready for Grinch-Mas with a big heart!
