As I mentioned in yesterdays post, we're a real tree type of family. Even when it was just me and the hubs (pre-kids) we had our fun tradition of heading to the tree farm and picking out the perfect tree. Since having kids it has become even more special.

Over the last couple of years, I started keeping the end piece of the trunk that the Christmas Tree Farm Helper cuts off for us. Last year, I wrote in pen the year and our names and so this year I wanted to try for something a little more fun.

In walks my new obsession. Okay, maybe it's two new obsessions. First, have you been to Harbor Freight? Umm, my new favorite DIY place. It's got all kinds of toys and tools and I want them all!!! My second obsession... my new stamping set. I got it at Harbor Freight and I'm OB---SESSED. I have been stamping all kinds of stuff!! (More presents coming soon)

This then leads me to this year...

    Tree Trunk Ornament

I decided that it would be awesome to stamp this year's ornament. Here's how I did it.

    tree-ornament-2
    tree-ornament-3
    tree-ornament-4
    tree-ornament-5
    tree-ornament-6

First, in pencil, I lightly wrote out what I wanted on the ornament to get an idea of the lettering and to keep it straight! Then it was time to get the stamps out and hammer them in.Using the eraser, try and erase any of the pencil if you can.I thought ours would look fun with red letters, so I filled in the stamps with a red pen.I used a small eye hook in order to hand it.Screw it into the top.Add your favorite ribbon bow. We went with the glittery red ribbon hand picked from DNH Girl. And onto the tree it goes. Doesn't take long at all, and its a fun way to memorialize your tree each year!
