It's the perfect "craftivity" for Halloween parties, play dates, and classrooms. Kids can practice their scissor skills and make their own little paper bat.

Halloween Craft for Kids - Build A Bat Activity

I love holiday-themed crafts for kids, and even more so if they're really easy and low prep. This "craftivity" is easy, takes little time to prep, and kids can do it on their own. I wanted to make a bat craft for Halloween and thought of doing it this way so kids could put their cutting skills to work. Mastering scissors is so important for young kids so any time I can incorporate it into my crafts is a bonus.

For this Build A Bat Activity, you'll need my printable template (download below), scissors, and glue. That's it! For sturdier bats, I recommend using card stock. Another option is gluing the completed bat onto heavier construction paper. This will make it last longer and they can even be used for easy Halloween decor.

How to Make an Easy Paper Bat for Halloween

Start by printing the template below. Then, provide the template, scissors, and glue to your child. Let your child cut out each piece of the bat and set it aside. There is a small image on the template showing what the finished bat should look like for reference. Encourage your child to look at that image and build their bat to match.

Kids will cut out the big purple bat shape, the black bat body, 2 eyes, a yellow mouth, and 2 orange teeth.

This is a great activity for the classroom, Halloween parties, play dates or homeschool. Since it's such low prep, you can easily print out a bunch of copies of the template and set out glue sticks and scissors. For younger kids who may not have scissor skills mastered just yet, pre-cut the pieces and show them a finished sample. They can build their bat that way and it's still just as fun.

I hope you love this little "craftivity" as much as I do and use it with your kids for spooky season. If you do, share it on social media and tag me so I can see it! Find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
