Halloween Bats
We have a bit of a bat obsession in our house because they're small and seem cute from far away so that means we're automatically curious about them and their lives. Can you blame us?
Bats are one of those creatures that fly around at night and help us all out by eating up mosquitoes. For that, I love bats. And when Halloween time rolls around, bats are fun because then we all start thinking about bats and how they transition into vampires as well.
It's a fun process to think about celebrating Halloween early with our love of these nocturnal animals.
If you're looking for some fun bats, you can easily let the kids have fun with this build-a-bat template printable, popsicle stick bat, and bat paper plate craft.

The kids can use them for play or just as a simple prop to have in their room as Halloween decorations. These are also really great for teaching them how to follow directions as well as be creative and independent at the same time!
Not to mention how crafting and scissor work helps with building their fine motor skills. Especially in the younger kids.

How to Make a Paper Bat
Select colored craft papers for the bat papercraft puppets. Trace the paper bat template patterns on the selected colored craft papers and cut them out nicely using a pair of scissors. The template includes 2 wings, 1 head, 1 lower body pattern, 2 inner ear patterns, and 2 eyes.
Stick the eyes on the head part and the inner ear patterns in the middle of the ear parts attached to the head pattern.
*These paper bats also are super cute with googly eyes.
Use a sharpie to draw the mouth and then stick the fang cutouts under the mouth traced line.
Stick the head cutout on the top side of the lower body cutout (opposite side to the leg).
You can add stripes or patterns to the wing cutouts as I did.
Stick the wings on both sides of the paper bat’s body part.
Attach the paper bat crafts on popsicle sticks to complete the puppet crafts.
How to Make Paper Bats For Wall
Another fun use for paper bats is to hang them on the wall as a "spooky decoration" for your Halloween party.
We realize our paper bats aren't super spooky, but in any case, they would be so cute and hung on the wall as decorations. Simply hang them with two-sided tape or adhesive dots making them into flying bat crafts.
