To commemorate back to school time, I created these First Day of School signs and I'm sharing them with you all so you can mark the school season and your children's current school year.
My kids are heading into the new school year and I am beyond excited! Summer break is great but I love Back to School time and can't wait for those first day of school pictures to blow up my Instagram feed.
It has become a back to school tradition for our family and it may be with your family too. First day of school photos holding the first-day-of-school signs with each grade level.
Printable First Day of School Signs
Simply click on the file below you need, download, print, and place in a frame or laminate. Then get ready for all those happy pictures.
For best results print on photo paper for that nice shiny finish. If you're not using a frame, print on card stock. It will be a thicker paper for your kids to hold for the photo. If you are using a frame, a good tip is to remove the glass part for the photo. Often times the glass will reflect on the camera and you won't capture the sign as well as without it.
We love this simple design of our adorable sign for the kid's first day. I've been using these white signs since I made them years ago and love it! It's a fun little tradition with my kids' first day and it gets us all excited for back to school.

Best First Day of School Signs
My biggest tip for the best first day of school picture is to do them the day before! Don't add more stress to your morning by trying to get the perfect photo on that first day. Or if you have some less-than-happy teens in middle school or high school.
Try doing it the day before (or even a few days before) for a smooth photo session. Tell your kids they're doing a practice run and you'll have plenty of time to capture that special picture of your child.
Trust me, once you try it my way, you'll never do it on that actual first day ever again.
