Step-by-step drawing guide showing how to draw a cute cartoon horse; the left side displays a colored version, and the right side shows a hand outlining the horse with black marker on a white background.

    How To Draw a Horse

Start by printing out the free Horse Drawing Step-by-Step Guide at the bottom of the post. Follow along with a sheet of paper and a pencil.

A white card with a black number 1 in the top left corner. In the center, there is a simple blue line drawing showing an oval at the bottom with two curved lines extending upward from each side.

Start by drawing a wide oval at the bottom and two curved lines going up. This will be the base of the horse's head.

A playing card with the number 2 in the top left corner, featuring a simple black outline drawing of a head with a short, spiky hairstyle.

Add a curved shape on top for the hair on the horse's head. This makes your horse look cute and fun.

A playing card with the number 3 in the top left corner, featuring a simple, black outline drawing of a horses head with blue ears on a white background.

Draw two small leaf shapes on each side of the head for the ears. Make sure they point slightly outward.

A simple drawing of a horses head and part of its neck, with the number 4 in the top left corner. The outline is black, and the horses neck is drawn in blue.

From the bottom of the head, draw one long curved line down. This will start the horse's body and legs.

A simple black and white drawing of a horse's head and one front leg, outlined in black with the number 5 in the top left corner. The leg is highlighted in blue.

Add the other front leg by drawing another long shape next to the first one. Draw a small oval in the middle for the chest.

A simple, outlined drawing of a cartoon horse facing forward, with the number 6 in the top left corner. The horses head and front legs are drawn, with blue lines highlighting its lower legs and a hoof.

Draw the back legs using curved lines and add hooves at the bottom. Your horse should now be sitting.

A simple black and white drawing of a cartoon horse facing forward, sitting down. The number 7 is in the top left corner, and the horses mane and tail are outlined in blue.

Add the mane along the side of the head and draw a long, curved tail. These details make your horse look fluffy and fun.

A black and white outlined drawing of a cartoon horse sitting down, with a number 8 in the top left corner, and blue highlights on its eyes, nostrils, mouth, and lower legs.

Finish by drawing the eyes, nose, mouth, and hoof lines. Erase extra lines and color your horse any way you like.

A simple, black-and-white line drawing of a cute cartoon horse sitting down, with large eyes and a small smile, inside a rectangular border with the number 9 in the top left corner.

The last step is to trace the light lines you drew in pencil with a pen or marker.

A cute cartoon-style brown horse with a light brown face and belly, black hooves, a dark brown mane and tail, and large black eyes, sitting and facing forward on a white background.

The final step is to color in your horse drawing.
