Step-by-step drawing guide featuring a colored cartoon witch on a broomstick and a black-and-white outline drawn with a marker, under the title How to Draw a Witch. Perfect for anyone wanting to learn how to draw a witch!.

How to Draw a Witch- Simple Steps

Below are 10 easy steps. Do one at a time. Pause when you need.

Start by printing out the free tutorial at the bottom of the post. Follow along and have fun adding your own touches!

A red, roughly oval-shaped line drawn to represent the outline of a head, with the text STEP 1 written above it in black, as part of a How to Draw a Witch tutorial.

    Head Shape

Draw the outline of the witch's head. Make it sort of angular or pointy around the chin, and a bit wider at the top.

    A simple drawing labeled

    Nose

Add a long, crooked nose coming off the side of her face. Don't worry about symmetry-crooked is cool!

A simple line drawing labeled STEP 3 shows a partially drawn animal head with a red outline of an open mouth, sharp teeth, and a tongue inside-perfect for those learning How to Draw a Witch's magical companion.

    Mouth & Teeth

Sketch her mouth. Give her a big grin with jagged teeth to make her look wicked.

    A drawing labeled

    Eyes & Eyebrows

Draw two eyes. Make the eyebrows slanted down toward the middle to show attitude or mischief.

A cartoonish, evil-looking face with sharp features, exaggerated nose, sneering mouth, and large pointed ears outlined in red. Above the drawing, the text reads STEP 5 of How to Draw a Witch.

    Ears

Add pointy ears on both sides of her head. They can stick out a bit for character.

A line drawing of a witch's face with a long nose, pointy chin, and an angry expression. A red, pointed witch hat tops her head. The text

    Witch Hat

On top of her head, draw her witch hat: tall, pointy, maybe a bend or curve in it. You can add a band or buckle if you like.

A line drawing showing how to draw a witch's head with a pointy hat, pointy nose, and a mischievous expression. Flowing red lines extend from her hair, curling outward to the right, labelled STEP 7 at the top.

    Hair

Draw her hair flowing from under the hat. Let it wave or curl and maybe be messy to show she's been flying around.

Step 8 of the How to Draw a Witch tutorial shows a simple line drawing of a witch with a pointy hat, long nose, flowing hair, and robe outlined in red. She has a mischievous expression.

    Cloak / Robe

Sketch the cloak or robe around her body. Let it drape, fold, or flutter-makes the picture more dynamic.

Line drawing for "How to Draw a Witch": A witch with a pointed hat, long hair, and hooked nose holds a broomstick with both hands. STEP 9 is shown above. Her hands and the broomstick are highlighted in red.

    Broomstick

Add a broomstick under her hands. Draw her hands holding the stick if you like.

Line drawing for "How to Draw a Witch": A witch in a pointy hat flies on a broomstick, with her lower body, broom tail, and flowing skirt highlighted in red.

    Broom's Bristles & Details

Finish the broom with bristles at the end (wispy or rough edges look good). Then go back and add any extra details-wrinkles in her clothes, shading, or small lines for texture.

    Finishing Touches & Color

A green-skinned witch with red hair and a pointed hat flies on a broomstick, wearing a dark robe. The text above her reads STEP 11, showing progress in your How to Draw a Witch tutorial.

Once your drawing is done, you can trace over your final lines with a marker so they stand out. Then erase any extra pencil lines. Now for the fun part-coloring!

    Here are some ideas:

    • Skin: maybe green for a classic witch, or another color if you want a friendly witch instead.
    • Hat & Cloak: black, purple, dark blue, or whatever spooky colors you like.
    • Broomstick: brown handle, golden or yellowish bristles.
    • Background or accents: moon, stars, maybe a haunted forest silhouette, if you want to draw more around the witch.

You did it-you drew a witch! Drawing something spooky can be super rewarding when you see it come together.

Keep practicing: try different styles, make the witch friendly or scary, change the pose, add a cat or potions. The more you draw, the more your witch drawings will reflect you.
