Did you know that there are over 5000 different species of frogs? Kids of all ages webbed feet creatures fascinating. Learning interesting facts about frogs and how they transform from jelly-like eggs into bulging-eyed animals that have hind legs almost twice the length of their front legs.
There with so many types of frogs, there can be a range in color, size, and where they live called habitat.

Why Learn How to Draw a Frog?
As I mentioned, there are hundreds of animals on our planet, but some are part of our school books, especially the ones with life cycles. This includes butterflies, worms, frogs, etc.
Therefore, sooner or later, our kids will come across the life cycle of a frog, and for that, one needs to know how to make a frog. It might come in handy when you’re doing a science project about amphibians or an art project about garden creatures.
But apart from that, drawing is itself a healthy activity. For one, it helps enhance drawing skills in kids. Secondly, it improves their grip on a pencil which is helpful when they learn how to write. Thirdly, drawing is highly beneficial in boosting hand-eye coordination.
But there’s more! Drawing is an excellent channel to help develop fine motor skills. It improves the kids' focus and allows them to concentrate better, as kids tend to have a shorter attention span. It establishes visual analysis, and the kids subconsciously pay attention to what they’re drawing, how they should be drawing, and how to make it perfect.

Frog Drawing Easy
Learning to draw certain characters and animals is always a lot of fun for drawers of any age. We love breaking down each of the drawings into simple steps. It's an easy way for kids of any age to follow along and create their own fun frog drawing.

Before you start flexing your drawing skills, we also want to make sure you have the right tools. Here are the drawing paper, and drawing pencils that we like to use.
Now how to draw simple frogs!!
How to Draw A Frog Step By Step
One of the first things is to start by understanding the orientation of your paper. This means that when the long edge of your paper should be running up and down, it is in a vertical position. If the long edges of the paper are on the top and bottom, then your paper is horizontal.
For your frog drawing you want to make sure enough room for the frog's body and legs. Knowing your paper position will help when drawing your simple frog and knowing if you are going to draw a tall frog or a wide frog.
Frog's Head
The first step is to draw the frog's head. The top of the head is two curved lines making a wide M shape. The second line is a half-oval shape from one side of the M to the other creating the frog's head shape.
Frog's Legs and Frog's Feet
The next step is to draw one curved line down from the bottom of the frog's head. That line then leads to the feet of the frog. If it's easier to draw the webbed feet by drawing three small circles, then draw the three small circles and then create toes off that. Drawing a small line curved between "toes" as well as the inner line of the front leg back up towards the head but not all the way to the top.
Step 3 is to draw the other front leg as you did in the previous step bringing the front feet right next to each other.
Frog's Back Legs
The next step is the first back leg. Halfway down the side of the body, draw an arch slightly angeled then back out for the foot. We drew three "toes" on the hind legs too.
Draw the second hind leg following the same method from the previous step.
Frog's Belly
The next step is to draw the frog's belly. Draw a small curved line at the top and bottom of the front legs.
Frog's Face
The next step is to draw in the frog's eyes and smile. Each frog's eye is a large oval shape under each curve of the frog's face. Then add smaller circles inside of the ovals.
Now with all the finishing touches, you have your own cute frog. You can trace over the lines you have drawn in pencil with a pen or black marker.
The last step is to color in your frog and make it super cute and unique! It's even fun to paint in your new drawing with tempera paints.
While this is more of a cartoon look frog drawing, here are some of the distinguishing items between different types of frogs.
- Common Frog - These frogs are typically brown in color
- Tree Frogs - These frogs are typically a green color. One of the more distinct tree frogs is the Red-eyed Tree Frog. This frog has a bright green body with blue and yellow stripes, red and orange feet, and you guessed it, red eyes.
- Bullfrog - A large frog that lives in or near freshwaters like swamps, ponds, and lakes. They are typically greenish-brown in color and their underbelly is a white-cream and yellow color.
- Poisonous Frog - These (aka a dart frog) are one of the most poisonous species on Earth. They are typically very bright colors like reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues in color. They are the show-off type of frogs that capture their prey with their tongues.
