How to Draw A Dinosaur Step By Step
One of the first things is to start by placing your paper in a vertical position. This means that the long edge of your paper should be running up and down. We want your dinosaur drawing to have enough room for the body, so we are having you start with your paper in the vertical paper position.
For the first step draw an oval shape with a slight kidney shape for the head of the dinosaur.
Body of Dinosaur
Next is drawing the body of the dinosaur. Start with a basic body shape. The neck is a longer curved line on the right side and a shorter curved line on the left. The back of the dinosaur has a small decline. Then draw a curved tail.
Dinosaur Legs
Now, draw another line on the inside of the left longer curved line. Then add the front leg. Continue the inside line on the belly.
The next step is the draw the back legs. Start with the one you see on the front of the page. Then draw a similar line off of the belly with the same shape.
Starting at the base of the neck, draw the second of the front legs.
Dinosaur Scales
Now it's time to draw the dinosaur scales. Start at the top of the head and draw small triangles down till you hit where the head and the neck meet. Then start on the back of the dinosaur and make similar triangles towards the tail. Making the triangles a little bit smaller as you go out to the end of the tail.
Dinosaur Face
Add a circle and a smaller circle inside it for the dinosaur's eye. Then add small oval shapes at the end of the nose with a small smile.
Now you have your own cute dinosaur. You can trace over the lines you have drawn in pencil with a pen or black marker.
The last step is to color in your dinosaur and make it super cute and unique! It's even fun to paint in your new drawing with tempera paints.
