Dinosaur Fun

Dinosaurs are something my two oldest children love! My daughter loves to read about them, while my toddler wants to act like different ones; this can sometimes mean trying to eat like a dinosaur at the table, which can be a bit chaotic.

Easy Dinosaur Craft

I love that you can use different colored paper or even googly eyes to make it your own with this paper dinosaur. This craft is a great way to use leftover scrap paper for small pieces, such as the spikes or dots you may want to add.

When you're doing crafts with kids, give the basic instructions, and then you can let the child(ren) take the lead. They can learn so much about themselves when their imagination is encouraged to grow. Crafting even improves fine motor skills and decreases anxiety which is T-REXCELLENT!

Supplies for Paper Dinosaur

These fun dinosaur crafts use simple supplies. Here is what you need to make your own dinosaurs.

Dinosaur Templates (free template at the bottom of post)
Colorful Paper
Pencil
Black Marker
Scissors

How To Make a Dinosaur Out Of Construction Paper?

Select 3 to 4 different colors of construction paper or card stock to make these paper dinosaurs. Trace the dinosaur shape body on colored craft paper and trace the two separate leg patterns on a darker shade of the same colored craft paper. Trace the scales and spots on colored craft papers of your choice. Cut out all the different pieces that you have traced. You can cut out the eye pattern directly from the template.

Glue the scale cutout along the top curved side of the dinosaur body piece.

Using the glue stick, glue the separate leg cutouts behind each of the leg parts attached to the body of the dinosaur.

Glue the spots to the dinosaur's back.

Lastly, glue the eye to the head of the dinosaur. A googly eye works great too. Then using the black marker, draw the mouth.

Viola, you have a cute dinosaur craft.

As an added step, my kids love when we turn our paper animal crafts into puppets. To do this, grab your popsicle sticks or craft sticks and glue one to the back of the cute dinosaurs. Your child can hold the dinosaur and play with dinosaur activities.
