This koala craft is all kinds of cute and cuddly and is sure to make any koala bear-loving kids' hearts happy.

    Koalas

    Let’s Learn about Koalas

You may hear the term koala bear, but koalas are not bears at all! They are marsupials - meaning they have pouches where their newborns grow. Baby koalas stay close to their moms for a while; they learn everything from the momma koala. Once they no longer eat from their mom, koalas learn what to eat in the world.

Koalas love the juiciest eucalyptus leaves they can find! They hardly drink water because they can get most fluids from the leaves. Eucalyptus leaves are highly poisonous! Not for a koala; their bodies can break down the leaves a certain way that they are unharmed.

Koalas are native to Australia. The ones in southern Australia tend to have thicker fur to help keep them warm in the winter. There are currently between 30,000 and 60,000 koalas left in Australia; different organizations are around to help keep koalas protected from losing their habitats.

A couple of years ago, when a wildfire spread throughout Australia, veterinarians from all over the world flew there to help however they could. Many people want to protect these cuddly, furry, and adorable koalas!

    Paper Craft for Koala

Ooh! This koala paper craft is such an adorable craft! I love the little heart that the koala is holding; this is something you could let the child(ren) decide on what color and or size. I can see my daughter wanting to make a big, pink heart.

My son would probably go with a medium-size green heart. I would love to join in on this koala craft with my children and see where our imagination takes us.

A paper koala craft is one of those crafts that is great to use for pretend play. The children could put on a puppet show with the koalas, pretend to be wildlife veterinarians, or pretend they are out on an adventure to see zoo animals.

Don’t forget to let your and the children’s imagination run free with this craft. You may have a child that wants to make their koala craft to look exactly like the one described; you may also have a child that wants to make a koala with pink fur, a yellow neck lining, and is carrying a green heart!

The uniqueness is my favorite part of animal crafts for kids. Enjoy and have fun!
