Spring Crafts
Most butterflies come out of hibernation in February and March. What better way to celebrate than with an adorable butterfly craft? While you craft, take some time to talk with your kids about how these unique insects grow from fuzzy caterpillars into beautiful butterflies.
If you’ve got some kiddos who aren’t into cute and colorful, encourage them to create something weird or “scary”. These butterfly puppets can be decorated any which way they like!
In some areas of the country, spring also marks the beginning of butterfly migrations. If you don’t see them migrating you could use these paper butterfly puppets instead. FaceTime with the grandparents and relatives and have the kids put on a short puppet show with their one-of-a-kind designs!
These cuties are a great way for kids to express their creativity without requiring tons of materials or supplies. In fact, you could probably get started right now!
We love all things spring and these easy paper crafts are a wonderful addition to any springtime activities you have planned.

Paper Craft FAQs
Which paper is best for crafts?
Cardstock is one of our favorites for paper crafts. The colors are typically rich in color and it is sturdier than construction paper.
How do you make large paper butterflies?
Making larger paper butterflies is as simple as making each of the pieces of the butterfly above larger size.
How Do You Make Paper Butterflies?
Select four different colored craft papers for the butterfly craft. Trace the small hearts and strips on a piece of paper, the body (oval shape) on a piece of paper, the big hearts (outer wings) on the third colored paper, and the small ones on a different shade of similar colored paper. Cut out the traced patterns nicely.
Glue the small hearts on either end of each small strip. Spread some glue on the medium-sized hearts and stick on the big ones.
Using glue, stick the heart antennas on the top side of the body base (oval-shaped paper). Glue them on the backside keeping the hearts facing up.
Glue the heart wing patterns on both sides of the body base.
Spread glue to the back of the googly eyes on the oval shaped part and use a sharpie to draw the other details of the butterfly paper craft.
