How To Draw a Bee For Kids
As kids, we have all tried drawing different animals and objects, but only a few got a chance to perfect their drawing skills. That’s because back in the day, we didn’t have tutorials that showed you how to draw something!
Therefore, I decided to create a drawing tutorial for my kids. I started with a “How to Draw a Bee” tutorial, and after a number of tries, the kids got the gist and began drawing a perfect bee. It's a fun Spring activity
This had me thinking. Why not make this tutorial accessible to everyone? And so, I’m putting up this tutorial and a few others on my website for everyone to download and print. The best part? It’s totally free!

Benefits of Direct Drawing
Kids love to draw. Whether it’s an animal, a tree, a flower, or any other object, they always use their imagination to draw it on fleek. However, if we make this process easier for them, they will learn how to draw in a quick and fun way.
This is where step-by-step drawing tutorials enter the picture!
Building Drawing Skills
While many people don’t encourage drawing tutorials as they might hold the kids back, I disagree! Drawing tutorials are immensely beneficial for kids. They are the cornerstone for kids learning how to draw and give them a basic idea of how to shape a certain object.
And once they make the basic shape, they can use their imagination to add details, make the drawing better, and make other objects using the same technique. It’s all about understanding the basics!
But that’s just one thing! There are plenty of other benefits of guided drawing.
Build Confidence and Fine Motor Skills
For starters, it is a great way to help your kids hone their drawing skills, grip, and hand-eye coordination.
Secondly, drawing is a healthy activity that develops fine motor skills in children. It teaches them how to position their wrists to make the correct shape or line. Plus, it’s a great activity to help kids improve their focus and concentration.
When the kids have a drawing tutorial in front of them, it will establish visual analysis, and the kids will pay attention to what they’re drawing, how they should be drawing, and what comes next.
In their attempt to make the bee just as shown in the tutorial, they will indirectly benefit in all the ways mentioned above.
Regardless of the different bumble bees you think of when you think of bees, we love all things bees and featured them in a few of our crafts and activities like the Bumblebee Color Page, B is For Bee Craft, Preschool Activities About Bees, and Bee Color Page.

Bee's Head
The first thing is to start with the bee's eyes. We thought it was fun with two small circles. We drew them each a little different sizes just to make our bee drawing more of the cartoon version. Draw a small circle inside each of the eyes.
Step 2 Draw a half circle off the sides of the eyes. This will create the bee face shape
The next step in drawing the head of the bee is the antennas. Draw a curved line at the top of the bee eye. Draw a small circle at the end of the antenna.
Bee's Body
Real bees have two sections in the body of the bee. The top part is the thorax and the second section is the abdomen of the bee. For our cartoon version, we're drawing just one section. Draw a petal shape as the body.
The next step is drawing lines across the body will be the black stripes.
The next step is to draw a small line on each side of the bee with a small circle on the end to create each front leg.
Next is to draw the hind legs. Draw a small curved line off the bottom of the body. Add small oval shapes on the end of the legs.
Bee's Wings
Draw a curved line of the back of the body for the front wing.
The final step is to draw the second wing. Draw it from the right side of the eye and curve it to the middle of the first wing.
The last step is to color in your bee and make it super cute and unique! A realistic bee has a black and yellow body. Grab your colored pencils, markers, or even fun to paint in your new drawing with tempera paints.
