This fun new year's word search printable is a great way to start the new year.
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are one of our family's favorite days. We love to ring in the new year as the ball drops, there is a sense of a new beginning and a fresh start to the year.
Celebrating The New Year
Ringing in New Year's Eve with kids is so much fun. I love the idea of celebrating the closing of one chapter and the beginning of a new one as a family!
On New Year's Day we like to reflect on all that has happened over the last year, and then as a family makes goals for each person as well family. We might talk about where we would like to travel this year or personal goals like learning to play the guitar or learning to throw a change-up.
For younger children, I think it's important to show that even as adults we should want to continue to learn and grow.
This printable activity is great for kids at New Year's Eve parties, class parties, or even church groups. They are always fun with a little competition too. Seeing who can finish first is always a fun version of the game.
How to Play Word Search Game
Playing a word search puzzle game is fairly simple. Download the printable game below and print. Grab a marker or highlight and then get to solving.
With each word search puzzle, there is a list of words. Typically they are themed words to the holiday. In this case, it's New Year's themed. There are hidden words in the printable word games and the goal is to search the puzzles for the words.
The words could be hidden in the puzzle in a number of different ways. They can be from top to bottom or bottom to top. They could be right to leave or left to right. Also, diagonally frontways or backward. Just like this fun New Year's Word Search.

How to Search For a Word on a Page
Everyone has their own technic to search for each of the words. We have found that what works best is to use your finger or the end of your pencil and move from side to side, top to bottom. Look for the first letter of your word and then look for the second letter around the outside of that letter. Once you find the second letter, then look for the third, and so forth.
Once you have found your word, use a pencil or marker to circle your word. In the case you are using a highlighter, you can highlight the word. Make sure to check the word off your list and then move on to the next.
