I am an official ambassador for Dole. Dole provided me with product samples for the purpose of this post, as well as compensation for my time. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
I am so excited to share that I am working with Dole, everyone’s favorite fruit and produce brand. Recently I was invited up to the Wellness Kitchen at the California Health & Longevity Institute at the Four Seasons Westlake Village, adjacent to Dole Headquarters for the Dole Fall Blogger Summit.
What is the connection between Dole and Disney?
While you may already know Dole Food Company as one of the world’s largest producers of high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables. What you may not know, is that in 2016 they entered into a long-term nutritional alliance with The Walt Disney Company.
Together they are looking to bring together healthy activities and nutrition for families around the world. Pretty great, right?
There are ties in with some of the major Disney movie releases.
They even have a fun peal and play sticker sheet that you can download and collect each time you buy your bananas at the store.
What’s the purpose of the Dole Blogger Summit?
It was a way to kick-off in a fun magical way, Dole’s initiative of “Empowering the Hero Within” . This initiative provides activities and menu options, rich in vegetables and fresh fruits, to encourage and help parents motivate their families toward healthy living. This initiative will run through December 2019.
At the Summit, we as bloggers, were able to hear about Disney’s healthy living commitment.
We also heard from Melanie Marcus, MA, RD, Dole’s Nutrition and Health Communications Manager, who has created 20 new fruit-and-vegetable-based recipes. Eleven of the Disney’s Frozen 2-inspired recipes released at the Summit. The second phase of recipes will be released just in time for Thanksgiving and the end-of-the year holidays, on November 4th.
The Day at the Dole Blogger Summit
We had an awesome day kicking off the “Empowering the Hero Within” initiative. We danced with Dole’s Bobby Banana. We had fun answering trivia questions about our favorite Disney’s Frozen 2 characters. Did you remember that Anna and Elsa had 8,000 salad plates?
My favorite part of the day, big surprise, is when we got in the kitchen. We were able to create our own versions of a few of the delicious Disney’s Frozen 2 inspired recipes.
We made our own delicious Dole Snow-flower Pizza and Frozen Banana Split Cups.
There were also plenty of samples of the other incredible recipes being released.
It was a great day to kick off a really inspiring initiative and celebrate one of my favorite movie sequels. I hope you join me and my family as we get inspired to be more plant-forward and healthier in making some of these delicious dishes. Oh, and see you at the theater on November 22, 2019.
