Printable Winter Matching Game for Toddlers & Preschoolers
Matching Games are an excellent educational tool for young children. You can work on vocabulary, fine motor skills, memory skills, number recognition, reading, and so much more. When I was teaching preschool many years ago, I used matching games all the time.
Kids love them and they're so easy to use. I loved them so much that I had to make my own. Below you'll find the matching game PDF with 16 pages and 32 cards. They are all winter themed and even include some Christmas and Hanukkah images.
How to Use the Winter Matching Game
There are a few easy to play ways to use these learning games. The first is just printing the pages, cutting out the cards, and letting your child find the matching pairs. One way to amp it up is to write the name of the image on the back and practice letter sounds and words as well.
Another fun thing to do is write the first letter of the word on the back of one side and the whole word on the other. Then kids can match the letter to the word as well as the picture. Pairs wins if you are playing with more than one child.
However you choose to play, I suggest laminating the cards for longevity. Store in a small zipper bag or bin and you can reuse this game hundreds of times! Also, laminating allows for writing on them with dry-erase markers. This makes it easier to add any extra educational elements to play matching games.
Matching Game For Kids
When you open the document you'll notice there are 2 cards per page. I made them this size so little hands can easily manipulate them. However, feel free to print them in any size you like.
For toddlers, it's best to use the size they are but preschool kids can work with smaller cards.
