You know I’ve always got your back right? With Christmas just around the corner, all the holiday baking to get to, and the kids constantly underfoot, why not let them learn how to draw Santa Easy? It’s great for them and great for you too!
This printable drawing is step-by-step and takes no setup at all. So just print and go! It’s perfect for young artists and of course any Christmas enthusiasts (like me!)
Santa Claus is the Man!
The main character of this drawing activity is none other than Santa Claus! He is the legendary figure of Christmas and a personal favorite of mine! I love everything from that red hat to the shiny cheeks! I mean what’s not to love? Free presents? Sign me up!
He’s such a fun character! Not to mention being a symbol of joy, generosity, and really the whole Christmas season for kids all around the world!
I love his whole iconic look! From his red suit with white fur to those cheerful rosy cheeks. And kids can totally make their own version of Santa too! Sick of the red suit, why not make it a different color?
While I love the classic look, I also love to see each kid’s unique twist on the original. It’s one of my favorite parts about letting my kids draw!

Easy Drawing for Kids
Drawing is a great way for kids to improve their fine motor skills! Especially for those littles! They must get time with a crayon and paper! It’s so good for them!
It's also a great activity for parents and teachers to engage with kids. Sit with them and offer guidance and encouragement. Or just share a bit of hot cocoa while they color. It's the perfect opportunity to talk about the story of Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, and the traditions of Christmas.
Drawing Santa is a great way to dive into the holiday spirit! Kids will follow the easy steps to sketch Santa’s hat, jolly face, and big, round belly. And they’ll be learning about shapes, proportions, and how to express emotions through art. All while just having fun!
The curly beard, a big belt buckle, and the festive Santa hat! It’s a pretty hard combo to resist!
Easy Santa Claus Drawing
This simple and easy drawing tutorial is especially great for younger artists. I’m not going for a highly detailed or realistic Santa! Though those can be fun too!
But this one is all about fun, simple shapes, simple lines, and curves! It doesn’t take much to bring Santa to life! So it’s great for kids of all ages!
Once they’ve mastered Santa, they can create a whole Christmas scene! Maybe they'll Draw a Christmas tree next to Santa or sketch him riding in his sleigh.
They can even use their drawings to create homemade Christmas cards for friends and family. That’s always one of my favorite things to do! Skip buying all those expensive cards to send around. Just send out your kid's drawings instead!
Everyone I know loves getting homemade cards way more than store-bought! I think they’ve got a little bit of Christmas magic in them.
So, grab those colored pencils, brush pens, or whatever drawing supplies you have, and let your kids create some holiday art. Whether it’s a classroom activity or a fun project at home, drawing Santa is a great way to bond, laugh, and make merry memories.
How To Draw Santa Claus Step By Step
Before you start drawing, we also want to make sure you have the right tools. Here are the drawing paper, and drawing pencils that we like to use.
Now onto Cute Cartoon Santa Claus!!
Santa’s Body
Start with a large circle for his body and then a small circle for Santa’s head. Overlap the two circles slightly.
Santa’s Face
Start with another circle slightly bigger than the head and offset it slightly below the head's circle. This will create Santa's beard and the bottom of Santa's Hat. Then for Santa Claus Face facial features add two small circles for the eyes, and a fun exaggerated mustache with the top of the mustache an elongated curved M shape and the bottoms an elongated W. Lastly, add a curved line across the middle of the large circle to draw Santa's belt. Then draw a parallel line completing the belt.
Santa’s Hat
Start drawing a smaller curved line off the side and top of Santa's head. Then add a small curved line off the side of the head creating a point for the Santa hat. Then add a circle at the end of the hat as a puff ball. Also, add smaller circles in the eyes for Santa's eyes as well as a small circle for the mouth below the mustache.
Then add two parallel curved lines that start below Santa's beard and curve to Santa's lower body. This is the lapel of Santa's suit. Draw two additional curved lines from the middle of the first two lines toward the outside of the other side of Santa's suit.
Santa’s Arms
Next, draw an arm and a mitten out the left side of the body. Then draw a few oval shapes off the right side as the body.
Santa's Bag
Next, draw a curved line off the right side for Santa's bag of presents. Draw a small triangle shape out of the bottom of the mitten as the handle. Then draw a rectangle shape in the middle of the belt as a belt buckle. Draw a smaller rectangle inside and it creates a belt buckle.
Santa’s Boots
Finally, draw small legs out the bottom of the body and then two small rectangles as his pant cuffs and then a boot shape out the bottom of each leg.
You can trace over the lines you have drawn in pencil with a pen or marker.
The last step is to color in your Santa and make it super cute and unique!
