Red Velvet Cake
As for what dry cake mix, I would say use your favorite red velvet cake mix. We enjoy the bright red color from Duncan Hines. But that's the beauty of these cookies, they can be made with any flavor of cake mix. Here are a few questions you might have before you get started:
Is Red Velvet Cake Mix Just Chocolate?
Taste is a big part of what makes chocolate and red velvet cakes special! Chocolate cake gets its yummy flavor from cocoa powder, chocolate chips, or melted chocolate. Meanwhile, red velvet cake has cocoa powder too, which gives it a hint of chocolate taste. But what makes red velvet stand out is its tangy twist from buttermilk and vinegar. This special combo gives red velvet its unique flavor, making it different and delicious compared to chocolate cake!
What's so special about red velvet cake?
Red velvet cake is like a chocolate cake but with a fun twist! Regular chocolate cake uses one kind of cocoa called Dutch-processed cocoa. But red velvet cake uses a different kind called unprocessed cocoa. It's a bit tangy and makes the chocolate flavor pop even more!

- Dip each of the cooled cookies halfway into the melting chocolate.
