Christmas is the most magical time of the year! Real candy canes have always been part of our family's traditional Christmas! Hanging them on the Christmas tree, mixing them in hot cocoa, or adding them to the outside of a gift with a pretty bow for some gift flare! Tasty Candy Canes
Every year my kids load up on those tasty treats. And every year I cannot for the life of me understand why the traditional size of the candy is so big. No one ever finishes eating a whole candy cane and they get left half-eaten and sticky somewhere around the house.
Did you know that the candy cane originated in Cologne Germany in the 1600s? The legend has it that the choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral would hand out the sugar sticks to all the kids to keep them quiet during service. He shaped them with a curve to resemble a shepherd's hook!
The first candies were a peppermint flavor and were always red and white in color. Nowadays there are so many fun flavors and they come in any color you can think of!
