Melt butter and marshmallows in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
As soon as it is melted, remove it from the heat.
Add a few drop of gel green food coloring to the gooey marshmallow mixture till you get the color you desire.
In a large bowl, pour the rice cereal in then fold in the green marshmallow mixture.
Stir until cereal mixture is completely combined.
*Tip - If you love the really soft and gooey rice Krispie treats, add the last little bit of mini marshmallows left in the bag. This makes the absolutely best rice crispy treats EVER!!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Christmas Rice Krispies
How do you keep Rice Krispie squares from getting hard?
The most common reason for hard rice crispy treats is that the marshmallow is overcooked. It's important to not heat the marshmallows and butter mixture on high heat or too fast. Low and slow is the best for this recipe. Once it's smooth, remove it from the heat and then fold it in the cereal.
How far in advance can Rice Krispie Treats be made?
Homemade rice Krispie treats are best enjoyed on the same day. If you are looking to make them in advance, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and store them in an airtight container at room temperature, then they will be good up to 3 days in advance. Knowing how delicious they are, they may not last that long.
Can you Freeze Rice Crispy Treats?
