If your house is anything like mine, then Summer is all about fruit for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and desserts. Pretty much at all meals and times of the day.
We are all obsessed with all kinds of fruits, but there is something about pineapples during the warm Summer months that delights our taste buds.
During the Summer months, I'm always on the lookout for quick and easy Summer appetizers.
The idea of turning the oven on during the Summer months sounds dreadful. That is why we love these pineapple bites.
Easy Appetizers
Easy appetizers like these delicious pineapple appetizers are really delicious for any occasion. We feel fortunate that we are able to get pineapples in our stores almost all year round. If you are unable to find fresh pineapple, you can always grab a can of chunked pineapple.
We love to serve these as a Superbowl Appetizer, as well as finger foods throughout the year. There is nothing easier than throwing together a few ingredients that are sweet and salty and enjoying a bite of deliciousness.
We highlighted this easy appetizer along with some other finger foods in our Easy Fall Appetizer along with our Easy Super Bowl Appetizers.
Ingredients For Pineapple Appetizers
Teriyaki Glaze
- Teriyaki Sauce
- Corn Starch
- Brown Sugar
Pineapple Bites
- Olive Oil
- Kielbasa Sausage
- Pineapple
How to Make this Summer Appetizer
In a small bowl, mix together the Teriyaki sauce, corn starch, and brown sugar.
Once the corn starch is fully combined, pour the sauce into a small saucepan and heat over low to medium heat until it starts to thicken. Make sure to keep an eye on it, as it will thicken pretty fast.
Next, cut up your kielbasa into ยฝ inch pieces.
Add olive oil to a saute pan along with the cut-up sausage.
Saute sausage till ends are crispy - approximately 5 minutes.
Cut up the pineapple into small cubes ยฝ inch thick.
Grab a toothpick and assemble placing the pineapple on first and then the cooked kielbasa.
Drizzle over the glaze and serve.
Can You Make These Ahead of Time
Cooking the sausage before can be done and should be stored in an airtight container for a day or two. I would hold off on making the glaze and cutting up the pineapple till right before serving.
Before serving, heat the sausage back up and then add to toothpick and drizzle with glaze.
Can You Store These?
These babies are so delicious, I highly doubt there will be enough to store for later. They can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
I recommend storing the pineapple and sausage separately. The pineapple juice could affect the texture of the sausage.
Happy Summer!
