April Facts
April is a great month full of all kinds of fun. It is the fourth month of the year and is known as the funniest month. Can you guess why? Yep, April Fool's Day Pranks!
There are special holidays in April including April Fools' Day, Easter, Earth Day, National Baseball Day, and National Unicorn Day. It is also part of the Spring Season.
I love adding simple puzzles and word searches to my kid's daily routines as it helps with concentration and teaches them about different events and holidays within a certain month.
What are Word Search Games?
If you are unfamiliar with word searches, they are fairly simple puzzles.
Word Searches are word puzzles based on a word list. The word list for each puzzle is typically based on a theme or subject like this April-themed puzzle. Everything associated with April including holidays, seasons, etc.
Hidden in the puzzle are each of the words. The goal of the puzzle is to find each of the words hidden in the puzzle.
Each puzzle can range in difficulty. The more letters in the puzzle, the longer the vocabulary word in the puzzle, and the direction of the word within the puzzle.
The words are typically hidden from right to left, as you would read them, or up and down for the simpler puzzles. The more difficult the puzzle, the more words can be hidden backward, diagonally, and in different directions.
Word searches are so much fun regardless of the level and they are so good for kids' brains.

Strategy for Finding the Answers to a Word Search
Each person might have their own strategies for finding words within a word search puzzle. We have found that using the end of the pencil or your fingertip to scan each row looking for the first letter of the puzzle is the most effective. Next, you find the first letter and the second letter surrounding that letter. Continue till you find the word.
Once you find the word you are looking for, you can either circle the word, cross it out, or use a highlighter to highlight the word. Mark the word off your list and make your way through the rest of your word list.
Easy Word Search Printable
