Leprechaun Paper Bag Puppet Craft For Kids
Remember making puppets in grade school using paper bags? It's such a fun classic craft for kids! I love it too so I had to make one for St Patrick's Day. Using the template below makes this a quick prep craft you can do with your kids at any time.
Supplies for Leprechaun Puppet
Simple supplies for paper bag puppets.
- Leprechaun Template (grab below)
- Crayons
- Colored Pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Brown Lunch Bag
This is a great activity for preschoolers, kindergarten, and 1st and 2nd grade. Older elementary grades can definitely still enjoy too! When I was teaching, paper bag crafts were always a hit with my students. They thought it was so funny to turn a bag unto a puppet and asked to make one all the time.

Then, color the Leprechaun and cut out the pieces. Younger kids may need help cutting some pieces like the shoes and arms. The last step is gluing the pieces onto the paper bag. That's it! Now your child can play with their paper bag puppet Leprechaun for St Patrick's Day!
Don't have a paper bag? No problem. Color the template and cut it out. Then piece it together on construction paper or card stock. While it doesn't make it a puppet, it's still a cute Leprechaun craft. For toddlers, try giving them the pieces already colored in and mixed up for them to put in the right order kind of like a puzzle.
