While the current calendar (Gregorian Calendar) has March as the third month of the year, that wasn't always the case. In the Roman calendar (Julian Calendar), March was the first month of the year. January and February didn't exist.

The start of Spring typically happens in the middle of the month, the exact day shifts slightly each year. - Saint Patrick, hailing from England, is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.
- St. Patrick's Day is in celebration of St. Patrick's death on March 17, 461.
- Shamrocks are three-leaf clovers.
- Some people wear green on St. Patrick's Day for good luck
- People commonly eat corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day.
- The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in the United States, not Ireland.

- Green is the color of chlorophyll, the magical pigment that helps plants make their own food through photosynthesis!
- The famous Statue of Liberty in New York City is green because it's made of copper, which has turned green over time due to oxidation.
- Although green is the color of envy and jealousy in some cultures, it's also the color of luck and prosperity in others!
- Many cultures associate St. Patrick's Day with the color green.
- Many superheroes, such as the Incredible Hulk and Green Lantern, choose to wear green costumes because they associate green with strength and power in comic books!

- Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday
- It falls on the day before Ash Wednesday.
- The first US celebration of Mardi Gras was in Mobile, Alabama.
- The largest Mardi Gras celebration takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana
- It’s illegal to not wear a mask onboard a Mardi Gras Float
- The celebration goes by different names throughout the world. Other names include Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day, and the Tuesday of Carnival.

- During Spring, the Earth's axis is tilted more towards the sun. This increases the amount of daylight which increases the temperature.
- The first day of spring is called the vernal equinox.
- The spring equinox marks the start of six months of continual daylight at the North Pole

- Tornados are most common in Spring.
Easter Facts
- Easter is the Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead.
- Easter Sunday always falls between March 22nd and April 25th. 40 days after a period of fasting and praying called Lent.

- Easter Island was discovered on Easter in 1772
- Dutch settlers brought the idea of the Easter bunny to the United States in the 1700s.
