We're excited to be sharing how to make puffy paint using just two supplies.
We are showing you how to make puffy paint and it is one of the easiest things.
Kids art is a funny thing to me. While they grow and are able to take on more difficult art projects, I find its still the simple painting and drawing that is the most fun for them. Do you see that with your kids?
Maybe it is because their increased confidence, or if they just enjoy the simpler things, either case, I love to include some of the fun kids crafting projects like this sand puffy paint even when they are a bit older.

Making this puffy paint is now so simple.
We found this Crayola Play Sand in the Garden section of Walmart for $7 a bag. So easy.
The two supplies you will need when making puffy paint are:
- Crayola Play Sand
- Shaving Cream.
In order to create a fun art project like the one we did, you may want either a bowl or we love empty condiment squeeze bottles and a dowel or popsicle stick to mix it.
How to make puffy paint
Simply fill the bottle with shaving cream.
then add a couple scoops of your colored Crayola play sand and mix. Mixing different colored sand will give you the same effect as paint would. Above, we added equal scoops of pink and blue to create a fun purple puffy paint color. Depending on the colors you get, there are lots of fun projects you can create.
What we are loving about the Crayola Play Sand is that there are so many fun projects you can create with it. The kids enjoy playing with it as is as more of a sand box. We used it to create a fun DIY I SPY Road Trip Bag, as well as making sand art in a few jars in our room. We love the bright colors (of course0 and can't wait to create some more projects this Summer to share with you.
Happy Creating!
