How To Make Paper Plate Butterfly Craft
Let's have some fun with one of the most simple crafts and most beautiful. Grab your supplies and let's make a fun butterfly.
Butterfly Wings
The first step is to cut through the center of your paper plate.
Next, cut a small curved v-like shape from the flat side of each side of the paper plate. This gives the butterfly shape to the wings.
The next step is to paint the base of the wings. We went with a pale pink, but show your creativity.
Once the base of your wings dries, start painting your patterns onto the wings. The key is to make sure the shapes and patterns are similar on both sides.
*Butterfly Fact: Did you know that these patterned spots on the butterfly wings are called eyespots?
Add different color circles and teardrop designs to the wings.
Use different colors on your paper plate butterfly's wings.
Fill in as many of the butterfly wings as possible.
Butterfly Body
For the butterfly's body, paint your large popsicle stick. We painted ours light pink.
Next, with the red paint, paint small curved lines up the length of the popsicle stick (butterfly body).
Next, grab those googly eyes and glue them onto the top of the popsicle stick for the butterfly face.
Butterfly Antennas
For the butterfly's antennas, cut two small strips of paper. We went with red to match the lines of the butterfly's body.
Roll each of the two pieces of paper around a pencil curling them up.
Glue the ends of the curved paper pieces to the end and back of the butterfly face with them curling up and forward.
The last piece is to glue the rounded part of the butterfly wings to the back of the popsicle stick. Make sure the top ends of the wings are curved out further than the bottom.
Viola, you have a cute butterfly craft with a paper plate.
