February Facts
February is a fun month to have some fun. Not only is it the shortest month of the year, but it also has a leap year (day) every four years.
There are special holidays in February like Valentine's Day, President's Day, and Groundhog Day. February is also Black History Month! It is also a solid member of the Winter Season!
I love that a simple thing like a word search can not only teach children that those holidays happen within a certain month, but also give a perfect lead into teaching them more about each of those holidays and special months.
What are Word Search Puzzles?
For those that may not know what a word search puzzle is, they are pretty simple.
Word puzzles are word list based on the theme of the puzzle. For example, this word search is February-themed. Therefore the word list is all about words, and holidays associated with the month of February.
The puzzle itself is a block of letters. Each of the words from your word list is hidden among the letter block. The goal of the puzzle is to find each of the words from the word list in the puzzle.
February Word Search Printable
There are different levels for each puzzle. Easy puzzles are for people of all ages, the words are typically right to left like words are read) and up and down.
For medium difficulty levels puzzles, like this one, the words are up and down, down to up, side to side, forward and backward, and diagonally.
The harder version for older kids and adults will typically have longer more complex words, as well as more letters in the puzzle.
Word searches are so much fun and are usually enjoyed by kids of all ages.

Finding the Answers of a Word Search
There are different strategies for finding words within a word find puzzle. We have found that using your finger or the end of your pencils and starting at the top and searching row by row for the beginning letter is the best way to start. Once you find the first letter, check to see if the second letter is around that first letter, and then make your way down the word.
Once you have found the word, you can either circle the word, or if you have a highlighter, highlight the word in the puzzle. Don't forget to check the word off the word list once you found it, so you aren't looking for the same word more than once.
Easy Word Search Printable
