Christmas Crafts
There is something about Christmas time that makes for the most fun crafts. It could be because of the colder weather and more time indoors. Or the fact they make good gifts. Whatever the reason, I like to think it has something to do with memories.
Memories of making crafts with your family. Or pulling the craft or ornament out of the Christmas decorations and the sweet memories it conjures up as you place it on the tree.
Christmas crafts are definitely my and my kid's favorites. We can't wait for December and all the fun crafts we are going to make, like this cute reindeer, all month long.

Popsicle Stick Crafts
Did you know that the first popsicle was invented by an 11-year-old back in 1905? I am sure it wasn't much time after that when those popsicle sticks were made into crafts.
They are inexpensive and extremely versatile and it's no wonder they are one of the most popular craft supplies for over 100 years. We've used them to make some of our best crafts including our popsicle stick bird feeder, popsicle stick shelf, and dragon puppet.
Now grab a few craft sticks and let's make this fun Christmas craft
Supplies for Reindeer with Popsicle Sticks
- Reindeer Template (print below)
- Green felt paper
- Brown Cardstock
- White Construction Paper
- Popsicle sticks*
- Googly eyes
- Small Red pom pom balls
- Brown paint
- Glue*
- Scissor
- Paintbrush
The size of the craft sticks is not an issue. We used large popsicle sticks for this project, but small popsicle sticks work just as well.
This simple craft can be made with a hot glue gun or craft glue. Hot glue will keep the project together longer but would need adult supervision if younger kids are making them.
How To Make a Reindeer Out of Popsicle Sticks
Start with a single popsicle stick and scissors.
Cut the popsicle stick. Place four popsicle sticks in a row. The width of the four popsicle sticks is the approximate length to cut the two pieces.
Glue the two pieces to the popsicle sticks. This is not the back of the craft sticks.
Next, grab the brown paint and the paintbrush.
Paint the front of the popsicle sticks
While the paint dries, cut out the four template piece from the printable template.
Trace the reindeer’s antlers onto brown cardstock and cut them out.
It is ideal for the reindeer antlers to be cut out of sturdier cardstock. In case, you don't have cardstock, you can always cut them out of pieces of cardboard and brown paper and glue them together.
Cut the scarf out of the green felt or foam.
Glue the longer piece on top of the shorter pieces to create a scarf.
Next, glue on the googly eyes.
Glue the antlers to the back of the reindeer’s head.
The next step is to glue the pom pom on the reindeer’s face to create the reindeer’s nose or Rudolph’s nose.
The final step is to glue the scarf on under the reindeer's nose.
Viola, you have your own reindeer popsicle stick craft.
Popsicle Stick Ornament
If you would like to make this into a reindeer ornament, the last step would be to add a simple hanger to the top of the reindeer. You can use brown pipe cleaners or a piece of ribbon.
Glue the ends of the pipe cleaners to the back side of the reindeer antlers. This might be better with hot glue. Once it dries you have a popsicle stick reindeer Christmas ornament!
