Gratitude Tree story
The gratitude tree story is a sweet story about a tree that feels it is just ordinary. It was not until that tree started to feel gratitude, did its leaves began to change color!
This is an important story for teaching not only gratitude but also thankfulness and kindness. There are sure to be great conversations about the attitude of gratitude.
Thanksgiving Tree
Over the years the Thanksgiving Tree has become a Thanksgiving tradition. I like to place our own gratitude tree on a bulletin board as you walk into our house with a stack of colorful paper leaf shapes and a pen.
Each family member adds a note of gratitude to new leaves and then pins it to the tree. Then at the Thanksgiving table, we read each of the notes throughout Thanksgiving dinner. It is a great way to warm everyone's hearts and it fills the room with all kinds of love and thankful spirit.
Family projects like these make for a great activity to bring everyone together for one purpose. An easy Thanksgiving craft that gets everyone involved. Who doesn't love that?

How To Make a Thankful Tree Craft
Then take time to discuss with your kids what they are truly thankful for this year. You can provide a blank sheet of paper and make a list together for younger kids.
When you have your list ready, cut out as many colorful paper leaves as you'll need for each thing. You can do this for your kids if they can't cut for themselves just yet.
Have the whole family write each thing they are grateful for on the leaves. Younger kids may need help fitting in the words if it's too long.
The last step is deciding where on the tree branches to glue your own paper leaves! Viola, a cute Thankful tree! You've got yourself a beautiful Thanksgiving Thankful Tree to display your thankful leaves. Your family's own thankful tree!

Thanksgiving Tree Decorating Ideas
Print the pages on thicker card stock paper or construction paper for a sturdier tree and laminate to make it last longer. You can also frame it and use it as Thanksgiving decor in your home. A $1 document frame from Dollar Tree is perfect for this. it makes the best Thanksgiving decorations.
Another good idea is to put the tree together without adding any words to the leaves and place them in a frame. Then use a dry-erase marker to write it on the leaves. This makes it reusable and can be turned into different activities if you prefer.
