We are in love with all things Christmas Village this holiday season and so what could be cuter than these colorful Christmas Village Wine Cork Ornaments.
We love the idea of making a small ornament to include with gifts for Christmas or by themselves. It only seemed fitting with our love affair with Christmas Villages Displays and wine 🙂 that we create fun DIY Christmas Village Wine Cork Ornaments.

How to DIY Wine Cork Christmas Village
How to make these painted corks
Start by painting your corks your desired color.
I get asked pretty regularly what are my favorite paints, brushes and supplies. Did you know that I have an Amazon Shop with all my favorite? Here are my some of my favorite craft supplies.
Once they dry, then its time to paint the houses. Grab your white paint and let the kids create a fun house.
Once they are painted, then you simply add the fish eye to the top. The great thing about cork ornaments as opposed to wood or harder items is that they are so easy to put together. The kids can screw the fish eye into the tops.

What is the history behind Christmas Village displays?
While the Christmas markets in Europe are high on my list to visit in the next couple of years, I envision those when I think of Christmas villages.
In reading about the history of these fun Christmas village displays, there is a good chance that they started with small nativity scenes. From nativity scenes they then started to see added figurines around the community of the nativity scenes. From there in different cultures they would also see the introduction of building to their displays.
Lit up houses or putzes (German). In the early 1900's the villages along with railroads started to make their appearance in Christmas Village displays. From there they have become more ornate with trees and and fake snow and full villages.
DIY Christmas Ornaments
It should not come as a big surprise that ornaments make me happy. In particular, making ornaments makes me HAPPY, and so after ten years of writing this blog, I have created a number of them over the years. I love them all so much and love when I pull them out each year to decorate the Christmas tree, that I can think back and we can talk about them.
My family loves to talk about each of the ornaments and where it is from or why we made that particular one. Here are some of the ornaments that I have made over the years that I hope you enjoy as much as we do.
