This simple popsicle stick pencil craft is a fun way to kick off the start of school. They are super cute and the perfect way to decorate a classroom or fun for the kid to decorate their desk.

Who likes thinking about school time? Not me, for sure, no way! I'm all about that vacation life - sandy beaches, late-night movie marathons, and epic road trips. But school is not waiting for anyone. In just a couple of weeks, it's back to the grind of packing lunch boxes and tackling homework. Oh, summer, please hit the snooze button a few more times!

If your kids are on the same page, it's going to get pretty difficult to get them back to the school spirit. That's why I've come up with a craft that'll spark some enthusiasm for the new school year - Popsicle Stick Pencil Craft.

This fun pencil craft is a great way to keep the kids busy while subtly preparing them for school. There aren't also a lot of fancy craft supplies that you need for it - just a few basic ones.

The best part is that this easy pencil craft is a fun activity for kids of all ages. The young children will enjoy gluing things together, and the grown-ups can fancy up the craft by decorating the popsicle sticks with paint or glitter glue.

Note: I've included a free pencil printable template at the end of this post. To help you make the craft even faster. Get started!

cut one jumbo popsicle stick into two small pieces

Start with cutting two small pieces off the jumbo popsicle stick. You will glue these across the three yellow popsicle sticks to hold them together.

cut tip of pencil out of jumbo popsicle stick

Next, cut a pencil tip shape (cone shape) out of the remaining jumbo craft stick.

glue tip of pencil to back of pencil

Glue the pencil tip to one end of the end of the pencil body on the backside.

Shade tip of pencil with markers

Next, use a black marker to create a black tip of the pencil.

cut a half arch out of red construction paper

Next, using red paper or felt, cut an arch shape approximately the same width as the pencil body. It's easier to cut it bigger and then trim it once it's on the pencil.

glue the red arch to end of pencil as eraser

Glue it to the other end of the pencil. Trim excess if needed.

draw a line between pencil and eraser

Lastly, draw a line between the pencil body and the eraser. You can write the word pencil or your child's name on the pencil for added fun!
