Learning About The Lunar New Year
Curious kids will love discovering even more about this popular holiday which is also a spring festival celebration. Like, why is it sometimes called Chinese New Year and sometimes called Lunar New Year? The holiday is based on the Chinese calendar or the Chinese Lunar Calendar – which is based on the phases of the moon. So, the names are often used interchangeably. This also means the holiday doesn’t always fall on the same dates every year.
But why limit the fun to just the kids? Bingo games are fun for the whole family. Create a family fun night, throw a Chinese New Year Party, and celebrate the Chinese New Year with this fun Chinese New Year bingo game. Decorate the house in the traditional auspicious colors of red and gold and don’t forget the snacks! Serve tasty food with a little cultural inspiration – like dumplings, noodles, and good fortune mandarin oranges.
If your family likes a bit of friendly competition, give out prizes. Chinese children often receive red envelopes with cash for Chinese New Year, but you could also give gift cards.
Our Chinese New Year bingo printable game is a great way to introduce your kids to a fascinating culture. Challenge them to learn even more about how this festive holiday is traditionally celebrated, what kinds of foods are served, and what all the different symbols and signs mean.
