American Flag Craft
Here’s what you need:
- craft sticks
- glue gun and hot glue sticks
- red, white, & blue acrylic paint
- twine
- something to make your star — I used a foam star sticker.
Here’s how to make it:
- Decide how many craft sticks you’ll need — I used 12 total.
- Set up your flag and measure where you want the blue square to be. For this, I used scissors to cut up 2 sticks.
- Paint all the sticks that will make the flag and set it aside to dry.
- When they’re dry, gather all your sticks to make your flag. I used 3 extra unpainted sticks to make a backing for the flag.
- Use a hot glue gun to attach all your sticks to the backing and create your flag.
- Attach a piece of twine to the back using the hot glue gun as well.
- The last step is adding your star using a foam sticker, paper, or drawing it on.
Patriotic Mouse Ears
Using a plain black Mickey ear headband from Amazon, dollar tree flowers, and a flag, you can put these together with some hot glue and a little time.
Just take apart the flowers from the stem and carefully hot glue them to the ears. You can do the front and back or just the front if you prefer.
Red, White & Blue Painted Flower Pots
Here’s what you need:
- Planter Painter Set from Dollar Tree
- Red, White & Blue Faux Flowers
- Floral Foam
- Red, White & Blue paint
- Scissors or floral sheers
- Paintbrushes
- Craft knife (regular knife works too)
Here’s how to make it:
- Paint the pots in any pattern you like.
- Set aside to completely dry.
- When dry, cut your floral foam to fit tightly in the pot.
- Now cut your flowers and add them in. Adults can cut and kids can stick the flowers in the foam. Again, let your child choose which colors they want in their pot.
Red, White, and Blue Paper Plate Wreath
All you need is a white paper plate, school glue, and shapes cut out from red, white & blue paper.
Here’s how to make it:
- Cut out the middle of the paper plate to make a “wreath” form.
- Add a generous amount of glue all over the wreath or let your child do this part.
- Have your child add the red, white, and blue shapes to the wreath and set it aside to dry.
- Add a ribbon or string and hang it up!
I did stars because I like them and it was easy to cut them with my Cricut machine. For little kids and toddlers, hand them the pre-cut shapes to make it easier. Older kids may want to cut out their own shapes and that’s fine too.
Patriotic Wind Sock
Toilet paper roll wind socks are an old-school favorite craft that kids love to make!
Here's what you need:
- Craft roll or toilet paper roll
- Red, white, and blue embellishments
- Ribbon or tissue paper
- Glue or hot glue gun
- Scissors
Here's how to make it:
- Paint your roll if desired and set it aside to dry. I used craft rolls that came painted already.
- Once dry, add your preferred embellishments. I used foam sticker stars for one and pom-pom balls for the other. For the pom-poms, I used a hot glue gun to make sure they really stick.
- Cut your ribbon or tissue paper to the desired length and glue it to the inside of the roll. This will make the bottom of the wind sock.
- Finally, add a ribbon to the top for a handle.
Patriotic Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats
For these treats, you just need chocolate melts, sprinkles, and mini m&m’s.
- Start by melting candy melts according to instructions. Work carefully and don't burn it!
- Then, dip half the Krispie treat in the chocolate & lay it on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
- The next step is to add sprinkles and candies while the chocolate is still warm.
- Put them in the fridge to let the chocolate set.
- Take them out and enjoy!
Firecracker Cupcakes
Add a fun flare for the 4th with these 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 goodies!
Bake your own or use pre-made cupcakes and top them red, white or blue frosting. I grabbed a dozen red, white, and blue cupcakes from my bakery to make it easier.
To make the firecrackers I used Sweetarts Candy rope bites twisted mixed berry flavor. For the “rope” I used soft black licorice and cut a small piece. Topped it off with sprinkles and that’s it!
